DILLI HAAT (I.N.A), DELHI

The Dilli Haat (I.N.A) is situated in South Delhi and is near to I.N.A metro station. The whole complex is made in 6 acres of land .The DILLI HAAT provides the ambience of a traditional Rural Haat or village market, but one suited for more contemporary needs. Here one sees a synthesis of crafts, food and cultural activity. Products offered includes metal crafts, handicrafts, foot wears , bags, paintings , silk and wool fabrics and shawls , gems ,beads, brassware and ceramics. In all, Dilli Haat, INA Market has 62 stalls allotted on a rotational basis to craftsmen from all over India. The food stalls offer variety of foods , from different states of India be it Sikkim ,Manipur ,Northen region , Jammu ,gujrat etc. And is served in an Eco friendly manner.

This is the entrance to the dilli haat and there is ticket counter to the left . Two main entry are there one is at the front and other is from left side. The car parking is on left side below the road level . There

are 10 stairs with riser of 10cm and a ramp for crowd coming through car parking area.

ARCHITECTURE : DILLI HAAT The whole complex is designed in traditional north Indian style with brick work and stone roofs for some shops, the shops are on raised platform and corridor in front is covered with chajjas to protect from heat and rain. There are small non permanent thatched roof cottages and kiosks without concrete structures.  PERMANENT SHOPS

The permanent cottage or shop is of 2x2.5 m and are open,there are no permanent doors or locks for these. These are raised to a level of 300 mm. An arch is made using bricks.

The chajjas of the shops are supported using coloumns. The chajjas are made using vaulted green roofs , stone roof with wooden and steel support. The corridor in front of shops is 1.5 m wide. The flooring is of sand stone in corridors.

 TEMPORARY SHOPS These are few non permanent stalls , the chajjas are made using tarpolin sheets and temporary electricity arrangements are also done. Kiosks are made using cloth and thatch.

 FOOD STALLS :

These are permanent stalls made using bricks and have a kitchen and a counter. Small service windows are there for serving food and window is also covered with a chahjja, a molded shed is used and also there is a ventilator at the back side of kiosk. These kiosk have a provision to lock. The sitting space is done using both permanent and temporary materials , and umbrella sheds are used to protect from heat.

 A supporting roof shed between two stalls made of thatch, bamboo sticks protects from heat.

 A fibre sheet with bars for support is used for providing shade to the kiosks or stall.

 Cloth is also used for providing shade and prevents heat around the kiosk. Electricity arrangements are also done through the cloth.

 CONTOURS

Stairs and ramps are provided wherever there is a slope , the slopes are between 500-800 mm. Natural granite cobble stones are used for staircase. And on ramps sand stone and steel railing is used.

 LANDSCAPING The courtyards between the shops are paved in stone and interspaced with grass to retain a visual softness. The landscaping of the area incorporates colourful flowering shrubs and trees, thus the entire complex is in harmony with the environment.

Materials used for flooring is bricks in zig zag bond and for roofing is black sand stone.

 LOCATION By Road: Dilli Haat of Pitampura is situated on the road of Pitampura-Rithala. This road also joins the Ring road to the Outer ring road. By Metro: The metro station of Netaji Subhas place is situated on the route the Red Line of Delhi Metro. This Haat lies at a distance of 500 metres from its metro station. This Haat is doing brisk business of its good in the national capital. The Pitampura Haat has a lot of landscaped area with terraced roof gardens. A dormitory for visiting craftsmen and a basement car parking are the new features of this Haat. The basement of the Haat can accommodate nearly 250 cars and as many two wheelers. The Dilli Haat at Pitampura surely take care of and taste buds. The variety of dishes available in Indian cuisine is legendary. The food courts will surely churn out menu of ethnic delicacies. 1.One of the first public space projects with ‘green roofs’ in the city. 2.Use of materials and finishes from the surrounding regions. 3.A wide range of finishes, materials and landscapes that create a diverse range of spaces and offer users a wide range of experiences. 4.Has helped establish a new type of public space which is cost-effective, popular and is now being widely replicated due to its success in Delhi. 5.Most importantly, has provided a platform to crafts persons from around the country to directly sell to customers in Delhi, eliminating middlemen and improving their livelihood.
