ASSIGNMENT TWO WAY SWITCH...

Description

DOMESTIC WIRING (TWO WAY SWITCH)

Objectives 1. To draw wiring diagram and using wiring tools 2. To draw schematic diagram 3. To do testing and inspections related to the wiring -physical testing -testing without power supply -testing with power supply Tools Side cutter

Tack hammer

Combination plier

Test pen

Screw driver

Multimeter

Introduction Two way switching is used to control lightning on a stair way, a corridor or in a room with two entrances and exits. Each switch will either turn the light on or off. A two way switch acts as a change-over-switch and does not have a straight forward on-off position. This means that if the power is off, it is impossible to tell if a two-way switching is in the on or off position. Procedures L1 30

Before wiring installation Draw schematic wiring diagram for circuit above. Make estimation for cable length, clip and shoe tack. Sketch the wiring route on the wiring board. Cut the cable based on the length, colour, and size.

During wiring installation Strip the end of each cable. String the cable using suitable tool. Install the wiring clip on wiring route within appropriate distance. Install the cable follow the sequence. Mark the end of cable (live and neutral) to avoid confusion during cable connection. 6. Install the lamp base for menthol and casing base for switch. 7. Make sure the cable polarity is correct. Any mistakes because polarity will cause dangerous. 8. Connect the source of the wiring installation to AC supply in consumer box.

Discussion In the middle of the experiment, we having difficulty to determine which pin is the main and which one goes to load. This causing our circuit does work on a few attempts. After a brief explanation from En.Kamal, using a multimeter with certain method, we should be able to recognize which pin to use to install the cable. Conclusion From the experiment we learn how to install two-way-switch properly by following the procedure given and explanation from En.Kamal and En.Majdi. We also practice safety while installing the circuit to avoid incident. Our objectives to be able to plan wiring sketch using wiring tools, draw schematic diagram and install consumer box were all achieved. By using all the right procedures, we are able to install our circuit successfully and in the end, the circuit working fine when we tested using multimeter.

Questions 1. Names three (3) examples of places for wiring installation above. 2. Why the physical and visual testing is important? 3. States five (5) safety precaution while doing this wiring installation. Answer 1. Places for wiring installation like above can be commonly found in the stairs, corridor, and bathroom with two ways out. 2. Visual and physical testing of the installation is important to ensure the wiring and its component used correct installation methods and to make sure that there is no sign of damage. 3. i. Avoid water at all times when working with electricity. ii. Never use equipment with frayed cords, damaged insulation or broken plugs. iii. Turn off the mains. iv. Always use insulated tools while working. v. Labelled each cable to avoid confusion.
