Dendro Power Basics, and biomass...

Description

DENDRO POWER

Factors affecting for healthy growth of Fuel wood 

Sufficient sunlight intensity for long hours

Good irrigation and sufficient wind

Favorable soil structure

Good fertility of soil or regular supply of fertilizer to match harvest

Avoid weeds and browsing of plants at tender age.

Take care of human enemies of plantations

Take care of insects, pests and parasites.

Recommendations to avoid a fuelwood shortage  Ensuring

existing wood resources are harvested and used without waste.

 Testing

and developing fuel efficient stoves, kilns, ovens, and furnaces of sizes and uses, particularly the ones which constructed and maintained at village levels where fuelwood is consumed in large quantities.

 Instituting

policies and programs that encourage the use of alternative energy sources such as biogas and solar heat.

 Control

harvesting intensity to preserve forest productivity.

Advantages of Fuel wood Enhancement

of Natural Beauty Effect on Climate and Soil nutrition Water conservation Land slides and floods prevention Improvement of Aquatic life New job opportunities

MSW requirement for power gerneration

CO2 Emission due to fossil fuel

Amount of wood for power generation

Disadvantages of fuel wood 

cost of dendro thermal power is slightly higher than that of coal

If not replaced the burnt wood with new plantation CO2 emission will not reduce

Land usage because it could affect usage of land for agriculture

When the fume comes out from the power plant must be cleaned by absorbing harmful gases but this need new technology and it is a costly exercise

Ash content must be addressed separately

Transportation of wood need extra cost

Amount of wood needed to generate same amount of power from fossil fuel or coal is high

Energy content is less

Energy efficiency is low

If not imposed strict rules and regulation doors are opened to cut trees in forest for other use.
