Injector Despatch Number List 1. INTRODUCTION The injector despatch number list contains identification and working pressure information for injectors supplied by Delphi Diesel Systems. The injectors are listed in despatch number order. The significance of the lettering and numbering of injectors is detailed in the injector workshop manual DDNX118 and in Service Instruction Note DT159. Settlement will occur during the early working life of an injector resulting in some loss of opening pressure, particularly if a nozzle or spring has been replaced. The following notes give the recommended allowances. Tolerances A nozzle opening pressure setting tolerance is allowable on all injectors according to type as follows: Screw adjusted injectors
+ 5 - 0 bar
Shim adjusted injectors
+ 8 - 0 bar
Working/Setting pressure The nozzle opening pressure stated is that at which the injector is intended to work in the engine termed ‘working pressure’. When servicing injectors, allowance should be made for settlement by re-setting the opening pressure at the higher end of the tolerance termed ‘setting pressure’. Additionally, if a new nozzle or spring has been fitted, the following allowance above the working pressure should be made. The following table is intended as a guide:New Component Fitted Nozzle Spring Nozzle and Spring
Allowance above specified working pressure 5 Bar 5 Bar 10 Bar
e.g. Injector 5238404 serviced by dismantling and cleaning only would be reset to its working pressure of 177 + 5 - 0 bar. If fitted with a new nozzle and spring, additional allowance should be made and the setting pressure raised to 187 + 5 - 0 bar.
2. GENERAL INFORMATION Identification tabs Certain types of injector are fitted with a tab washer beneath the nozzle capnut, the tab detailing the engine manufacturer’s identification. Other types of injector carry a roll-marked identification on the upper part of the nozzle holder body. Identification by either of these methods is shown in the ‘Tab code’ column. Nozzle holder identification Nozzle holder dispatch numbers comprise the first five or four digits of the complete dispatch number depending on the injector type. e.g.
52174 is the dispatch number for the nozzle holder fitted to injector 5217412, 001R is the dispatch number for the nozzle holder fitted to injector 001R02B and B009 is the dispatch number for the nozzle holder fitted to injector B00901A.
Injector types The injector list also includes 2-stage, instrumented and common rail injectors. In these cases the working pressure is not specified but in some instances cross-referred to a Service Instruction Note.
