DEEP PEAT Basic Structure There are four different Process Stages: 1. Defining the Problem 2. Following the Chain 3. Polarization 4 Integration Points location: Chest Point, 1st Point Beginning of the Eyebrow, 2nd Point Next to the Eye, 3rd Point Under the Eye
1st Stage – Defining the Problem We want a clear definition with two parts: The Reaction and The Situation. Clients will typically give you one of them, for a clear definition you have to ask about the missing part. The Situation: ”I don’t have enough money.” -> How do you feel about that? → “I feel insecure.” → The Definition: ”I feel insecure because I don’t have enough money.” The Reaction: ”I’m sad.” -> What are you sad about? → “My boyfriend doesn’t want to spend time with me.” → The Definition: ”I feel sad because my boyfriend doesn’t want to spend time with me.”
2nd Stage Following the Chain Start on the chest Point Negative content: “Even though I feel [content], I accept and love myself.” (Positive content: “I feel [content], therefore I accept and love myself.”)
Got to the first Point: Beginning of the Eyebrow Close your eyes. Go to the first point. Feel [content] and when you’re ready please in- and exhale. What’s happening now? or What comes up now? → Image, Thought, Emotion, Body Sensation → If the content is new: Please go to the chest point… “Even though…” → If the content is still the same: Please go to the next point. Feel…
3rd Stage Polarization There are two ways a Polarity will spontaneously come up: 1. The client reports both Poles at the same time 2. There is a shift from negative to positive content (or positive to negative) Notice it and then ask: Is there still a little bit of that previous [conent] left? “Yes!” -> Go to the 4th Stage Integration “No!” -> Continue with the existing content
4th Stage Integration Start with the Chest Point Again Go to the Chest Point please. “Even though I feel [pole A] and [pole B], I accept and love myself.”
And the first Point Please Feel [Pole A] and when you’re ready please in- and exhale. Feel [Pole B] and when you’re ready please in- and exhale. Feel both at the same time and when you’re ready please inhale and exhale. What is happening between them? or What is happening with them? → If they are not integrating, go to the next point and repeat the procedure → If they merge or start to vanish they are starting to integrate
When they integrate… Control Question At this moment, can you feel [pole A] separate from [pole B]? → “No” or “I can’t feel them anymore” Integration is done properly, go back to the initial problem and check the result. How do you feel about that Problem now? → “Yes” Is there a better word for [pole A and pole B]? If so start again from the Chest Point with a new polairty
Not Enough Points… → Neg Content: Feel [content] and tell me what would you like to feel instead of that? > “I want to feel peace.” Can you feel that peace now even a little bit? a. Yes: Go to the Chest Point… start the Integration Process b. No: But you can feel your desire for peace. -> Chest Point… Start the Integration Process with the desire for peace. → Pos. Content: Feel [content] and can you feel something opposite from that right now?” a. Yes: Go to the Chest Point… start the Integration Process b. No: Finish the Process and check the results
Images and Body Sensations We only accept thoughts and emotions as they are given. If the client brings up an Image or Body sensation ask: → Look at that Image and tell me what thought or emotion follows that image? → Feel that body sensation and tell me what thought or emotion follows that?
Clarifying Question Use “What does that represent for you?” when the client gives you I.
Symbolic image “I see a king.”
II.
Metaphor “My legs feel like rubbers.”
III.
Polarized in the body “I feel split to the left and right.” → Feel the left side, what does it represent to you? → Feel the right side, what does it represent to you? → Start the Integration Process… Chest Point
IV.
Nothing “Nothing comes up.” Then use the next three questions: a. What does this nothing represent for you? If the client gives you something, go on with the new content, if not: b. Feel nothing and tell me can you feel something opposite from nothing?” If the client gives you something then start the Integration Process, if not: c. Can you feel yourself separate from that nothing? Are there two things, I and nothing? If they say yes, integrate the Polaritiy, if not finish the Process and check the result.
Meta Polarities You try to integrate Polarities on all three points and it doesn’t work. Aks those questions: I. Feel [pole], can you give me a better word for that pole? II. Feel [pole], is that changing into something else? III. Feel [pole], what do you feel when you feel [pole]? → When you get a new Polarity you go to the Chest Point and you start the Integration again
General Approach I. II. III. IV.
Check the results: How do you feel about [the situation] now? Opposition: Is there anything else about [the situation]? Control of the future: Do you feel that your Problem will come back in the future? Circular Processing: Is there anybody else who contributed to that Problem? You need to know who contributed and in which situation. -> Feel the situation from the point of view of that person, see through his eyes, and imagine being him in that situation. Then start the whole Process identified with that person and his specific emotion in that situation.
