I.

USER ANALYSIS

A. DEMOGRAPHIC DATA OF EXPECTED USERS The City of Baguio covers an area of 57 square kilometers area on a hilly land about 1,524 meters high in the southwestern portion of the Cordillera Central mountain range in Northern Luzon in the Philippines. Baguio City is completely surrounded by the province of Benguet, which Baguio used to be a municipality before being made into an independent city. Its population increased at 2.36 percent at 2007 to 2010. The total population as of May 2010 is 318,676. The population density is 5,543 persons per square kilometer in 2010. Baguio City’s population as of 2010 represents 20 percent of the Regional Population and 0.34 percent of the National Population with 129 barangays. The main point for the Cordillera Cultural Center is that visitors may reach the establishment in approximately an hour. Rehearsal Manager – responsible for coordinating all aspects of performances from concept to realization on stage working closely with choreographers, designers, composers and the directors. Performing Arts Director – provides strong leadership which runs first class teaching and learning opportunities for performers and staf. Visual Arts and Design Director – coordinates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of practices to ensure that all performers meet the standards. Film, Broadcast and New Media Director - coordinates and manages the creation of content for digital formats, such as DVDs, as well as for distribution via the Internet. Vice President (Administrative)- responsible for directing all of the administrative functions Secretary – provides both clerical and administrative support to the vice president General Services Director – is responsible for the center’s janitorial services. Engineering and Technical Director Property and Supply Director – is basically concerned with the purchase, receipt, storage, distribution, maintenance and disposal of supplies and equipment. Budget Director – counterchecks the availability of funds of projects or services rendered. Accounting Director – takes care of the processing of all the vouchers, liquidations of cash advances, travel allowances, payment of services, etc. Treasury Director – collects for the cultural center payment for various services it has rendered.

Personnel Services Director – implements government and the Center’s policies regarding employee attendance, leaves, salaries and recruitment of new employees. Personnel Training and Development Director – handles the employee benefits, training programs and recreation services. Sales and Accounts Director – it records and reports the profile and characteristics of these market segments Creative Services Director – develops, maintains and enhances the cultural center’s audiences, publics and sponsors for the benefit of the Center’s program and activities. Assistant Director - helps develop and execute the center’s strategic planning, design and implement program evaluation and reporting and provides general management and supervision to ensure the center’s smooth daily operations Clerk – a person employed in an office or bank to keep records and accounts and to undertake other routine administrative duties

Other Administrative Staf      

Program coordinator – helps in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carrying out important operational duties. Administrative Associate - performs varied administrative work such as clerical and secretarial tasks for a department. Administrative Staf – performs administrative and office support activities such as answering phones, taking memos, and maintaining files Production supervisor – helps plan and organize production, keeps track of production activities, manages the work team, and contributes to follow-up of activities and training Security Officer - Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitors surveillance equipment and inspects buildings, equipment, and access point. Technical director – responsible for working closely with the scenic designer and director. It is their responsibility to determine how the scenery will be built and out of what materials.

Production Zone      

Performer – are talented individuals that do a number of acts such as singing, acting and dancing to entertain people. Props man – in charge of props Stage manager – serves the dual function of assistant to the director and production staf during the rehearsal period and then becomes the person in charge of the production during the actual performance Ensemble – a group of musicians, actors, or dancers who perform together. Orchestra – performs music for live audiences and recordings. Dresser - works closely with the costumes, storing, racking, cleaning and keeping them in good repair.

Exhibition and Learning Zone    

Librarian – works in a library, providing access to information and helps people check out books. Assistant librarian - Compile records, sort and shelve books, and issue and receive library materials. Curator - responsible for assembling, cataloguing, managing and presenting/displaying artistic and cultural collections. Exhibitors

Commercial Zone       

Cafeteria Staf - prepares and serves cafeteria food, and maintains the cafeteria and dining area in sanitary condition. Restaurant Staf – provides visitors of quality customer service and satisfying dining experience. Chef – responsible primarily for cooking the food at the restaurant. Waiter – take orders and serve food and beverages to visitors at tables in dining areas. Cashier – responsible for taking money from visitors in exchange for food or services. Manager - Supervises dining room and kitchen operations and coordinates food service activities. Salesman– assists the customer in selling merchandise and souvenirs for visitors.

Utility Zone    

Maintenance Supervisor - oversee and coordinate the workers who maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, ventilation and other building systems. Maintenance Staf – Repairs and maintains physical structure, equipment and grounds of the facility. Electrical Maintenance – involves carrying out installations and repairs on electrical apparatus, systems and electronic features of equipment and machines. Mechanical Technician – Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical and hydraulic- and diesel-powered equipment.

A. SPACE IDENTIFICATION

The cultural center is divided into seven zones, mainly:     

Public Zone - a social space that is generally open and accessible to people. Administration Zone – consist of general information areas, offices and meeting rooms where most administrative works are done Exhibition Zone – a space for small and large installations for presentation usually galleries and showrooms Learning Zone – area in which everyone can visit for research of additional information. Includes the library. Production Zone – area that includes the main theatre and the sub-theaters and other supporting facilities directly related to show production Commercial Zone – space provided for souvenir shopping or dining Utility Zone – area allotted for maintenance and troubleshooting, usually back of the house.

 
