[email protected] Human Resources Department, Dear Sir/Madam,
Application for the post of Trainee Drilling and Production Engineer/ Petroleum Engineer.
With due respect I want to state that currently, I am in the final semester of my Bachelor Degree
program in Petroleum Engineering, majoring in Drilling and Production Operations at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia which will end on 15th of September 2011.
When PETRONAS was operating in Pakistan they had offered scholarships for undergraduate studies in UTP, Malaysia. I was among the five (5) students selected for this scholarship through competitive examination. Currently, PETRONAS is not operating any fields in Pakistan and has left the country in September 2010. Although, PETRONAS is not working anymore in Pakistan but it is still financing my studies and has released me from the Service Bond Agreement.
My 8 months of industrial internship training at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd – Specialized Studies Section, Production Technology Dept has provided me with invaluable exposure to the engineering experience. Throughout the industrial training I have assisted the engineers in Feasibility study of Tight Oligocene Reservoir in Ruby Field, Vietnam. Initiatively, developed a new standard manual for Water Injection in PCSB, proactively participated in sand control management of various fields in PCSB and helped monitor and track record of sand management in Samarang, Samarang Kecil, Alab, West Lutong, Erb West and Tembungo fields. I actively participated in numerous technology update seminars organized by service companies like
Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Weatherford etc for PETRONAS staff. Through these seminars I have gained valuable knowledge of latest technology being employed in Oil and Gas Industry. I am confident that my combination of practical work experience and solid education experience has prepared me for an immediate contribution to your organization.
Recently, I have completed a Final Year Project. This individual project is entitled ‘Foamed Cement with additives for Zonal Isolation in Coalbed Methane (CBM) Wells’. The project involved laboratory experiments utilizing cementing equipments mainly for compressive strength, fluid loss, thickening time, porosity/permeability of foamed oil well cement with additives.
Also, my keen participation in academic and extracurricular activities has sharpened my event management skill, leadership skill, communication skill, team work and also the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
I feel certain that my commitment to excellence, coupled with experiences that I had gained during my varsity and internship stint will help me contribute for the success of your esteemed company. Should you agree after reviewing the enclosed resume and testimonial, I would be available to attend an interview at your convenience and look forward to favorable hearing from you soon. Thank you very much for your kind attention.
Yours Sincerely, Kamran Haider Tunio Enc: 1. Resume

FINAL YEAR PROJECT
Properties of Foamed Cement with Additives for Zonal Isolation in Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Wells - (A Case Study on Mukah Coal Field, Sarawak) Coal bed methane (CBM) generally has lower fracture gradient as compared to conventional oil or gas wells due to weak structures of coal. Therefore, CBM are more vulnerable to downhole problems faced such as lost circulation and formation fracture as the formation cannot withstand the cement densities of averagely above 11 ppg (1320kg/m³). Foam cement when used together with additives offers a versatile and economical means of cementing with low density (5-13 ppg) and high strength per unit volume, The objectives of this project are to determine properties (density, compressive strength, fluid loss, porosity and permeability) of the foamed cement when used with Micro silica and BJ Ultra as additives to be compared and analyzed for their compatibility for the Mukah Coalfield, Sarawak. The project also discussed the characteristics of CBM reservoirs, foamed cement with additives sample preparation methods and data analysis. HPHT Curing Chamber, Compressive Strength Testers, HPHT Filter Press and PoroPerm are some of the equipments that were used for measurement of various properties for this project.
