COURSE DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION This course introduces the students to appreciate the elements and contexts of 21st century literature of the Philippines and the world, demonstrate understanding and appreciation through critical interpretation of literary text, appreciating the contributions filipino writers to the development of National Literature, differentiate prose and poetry and provide examples of different literary genres. genre s.
COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES After completing this course, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO

1. Differentiate the various 21 century literary genres and the ones form the earlier genres/periods citing their elements, sturctures and traditions; 2. Explain the literary, biographical, linguistic, and socio cultural contexts and discuss how they enhance e nhance the text’s meaning and enrich t he readers understanding; 3. Identify the characteristics of each literary periods and explain the cultural and contextual situations during each literary period ; 4. Interpret historical, cultural and biographical background of different literary text; te xt; 5. Relate the theme or the message of the literary works and real life situation in our country and in the t he world.

Wriiten output-25% Performance task-50% Examination- 25 CLASSROOM POLICIES 1. Students must observe and practice EOP – English English Only Policy. 2. A grace period of 15 minutes will be given to a student who comes la late, te, otherwise he/she is considered ABSENT. 3. Students must actively participate in classroom’s discussions and other performances. Missed activities by a student may be taken once a valid reason is presented through an excuse letter signed by their guardian/parents. 4. NO USING OF GADGETS – unless unless needed (activities). 5. Avoid unnecessary noise during and after class. 6. Observe courtesy. 7. Cleanliness during and after class. 8. Proper School Attire with ID.
