SERVICES at the Proposed COSMETOLOGY CENTER Bephaloplasty Bephaloplasty relates to surgery of eyelids. Younger patients undergo this surgery because of an inherited condition in which the fat deposits push against a retaining wall (orbital septum) that normally prevents protrusion of fat resulting in early bulging above or below the eyes. Older patients generally seek surgery because of sagging of the eyelid skin, but can also have bulging fat. Liposuction Liposuction involves removal of fatty deposits in body. It is most successful in people with good skin tone who have fatty deposits. Mega liposuction Aspiration of more than ten liters of fat in one sitting is termed mega liposuction. The proportion of mega liposuctions being performed is increasing world-wide as more and more surgeons get convinced of its safety. Up to 20 liters can be aspirated in one sitting in well-selected cases and in a hospital setting with good infrastructure. Corrective cosmetic surgery It is challenging because the original anatomy is altered, important structures may be missing and there are scars and scar tissue to deal with. Corrective work requires complete mastery of the art of cosmetic surgery. Rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, liposuction and other body contouring procedures are the commonest areas where people have had to resort to corrective surgery. Tummy tuck In some cases, liposuction surgery can be combined with excision of excess abdominal skin instead of a more complete tummy tuck. When a full tummy tuck is contemplated, however, extensive liposuction is best delayed until a later time or has to be done before abdominoplasty since there seems to be a higher chance of complications when the two procedures are combined. Occasionally, minor additional liposuction is done after the original operation. Brachioplasty Brachioplasty relates correction of loose upper arm. Patients who have had mastectomy surgery may not be able to have a brachioplasty because of the increased risks of repeated armpit infections or also people with excess sweat production may also not be good candidates for brachioplasty cosmetic surgery. Thigh Lift (Thigh plasty) A thigh lift is done to remove excess skin from the thigh and buttock area. This sagging of skin is usually caused by weight loss or ageing. After patients have lost a lot of weight, having this surgery performed is like the “icing on the cake”.

Breast Enlargement The operation is carried out under general anaesthesia. An implant (prosthesis) is placed through an incision, under the breast tissue or under the muscle. The incision can be made under the breast, around the nipple or in the armpit. A breast implant is composed of an outer shell filled with saline (salt water). Breast Lift Mastopexy is commonly performed in breast augmentation (implants) to increase and size. This may appeal to women who have after pregnancy. Pregnancy and nursing often skin and therefore decreased volume.

conjunction with breast firmness lost breast volume result in stretched

Brow lift Newer techniques now allow to perform Forehead Lifting through small incisions in the scalp by using an Endoscope and specialized instruments. This accelerates the healing process. Facelift The skin begins to wrinkle and sag as a result of and genetics. Over time, the skin sags and folds line and neck become prominent. Not only does facial appearance but also has a dramatic effect enhancing its contour and profile.

age, sun exposure over the chin, jaw a facelift improve on the neck,

Male Breast Reduction Surgery Key hole surgery for male breast refers to application of principles of liposuction using certain special instruments. The marks are only 3-4 mm long and fade in time. Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty relates surgery of nose. The reasons for rhinoplasty include reducing or increasing the size of the nose, removal of bumps as well as improving expressions of nose. Ear Surgery A complete examination of patient’s ears is made in order to take the most effective surgical approach. All issues such as shape and types of anesthesia used are discussed. The areas that will be excised are marked and digital photographs are taken in order to document the amount of improvement after surgery. Chin and Cheek Enhancement A small incision is made either underneath the chin or inside the mouth. A sterile implant, similar to the shape of a natural chin, is placed in front of the bone to increase the projection of the chin. The implant is secured in position and sutured.

Scar Reduction With very few exceptions most people are self-conscious about facial scars. Some people may also experience diminished functioning of eyes, mouth or nose due to scarring. Facial scar revision would improve not only patient’s appearance but also the selfconfidence. Cleft Lip and Palate The correction of such deformities is challenging and the results are rewarding. Nose function as well as appearance gets major improvement by surgery. The days are gone when such surgeries were done in surgical camps. More and more patients are seeking better care and attention. The surgical options are many and varied. The results depend on judicious selection of technique keeping in mind the nature of deformity. Results are permanent. Genital surgery The following services are available for genital enhancement: 1. Male genital cosmetic surgery- Penile lengthening - Penile girth increase 2. Female genital cosmetic surgery- Labia minora reduction - Labia majora enhancement - Pubic fat liposuction - Pubic lift - Vaginal tightening (Vaginoplasty) Butts surgery Butt implants are made of silicon and have been in use for a long time. They are safe and can be placed through hidden cuts. Body Contouring Diet, exercise and change in life style are the most important means to reduce weight and maintain the results. Morbidly obese (BMI 40 or more) may have to resort to bariatric surgery. Unfortunately, a large amount of weight is lost over a relatively short period of time. This can result in loose skin all over. Added to this will be sagging breasts, butts, arms, thighs and a prematurely aged look on the face. Cosmetic surgery can correct all these by tucks and lifts of the concerned areas. Body contouring after massive weight loss is a specialized field in cosmetic surgery requiring a great deal of experience designing the surgery itself. Dimple Creation Men and women are equally demanding this procedure now-a-days. As in all other surgeries, attention to detail is important here as well. Under local anesthesia, a small depression is created in the muscle of cheek region. This is done through the inside of the mouth without external scars.

NON INVASIVE SURGERIES Botax Treatment consists of a number of tiny injections made through a very fine needle directly into muscle. Effects of the injections begin to appear within a few days. The results generally last around four to six months, after which time, the injections must be repeated. Fat Injection Using ones own fat cells to augment and fill defects, is a time tested and safe option. Touch ups may be required in a few patients. Fat is harvested by liposuction using special technique and processed to remove tissue debris and injected as beads in layers to increase the viability. There is no chance of allergy or rejection. It works well for hollow under eyes, deep lines and sunken cheeks. Tissue Grafts Dermafat, dermis, fascia and muscle are viable permanent fillers. They are most useful in lip augmentation. Although this is not non surgical, the fact that the results are permanent make it an attractive option. Grafts can be harvested from locations where the incisions can be well hidden. Contour Threads As the ageing process begins, the skin's connective tissue thins and collagen and elastic fibers begin to break down. As a result, these changes in underlying support structures appear as sagging, deep creases, folds and wrinkles in the skin as early as one’s thirties. There is a simple new technique that makes it possible to rejuvenate and beautify the patient’s appearance. A lift procedure performed with Contour Threads is a safe, conservative and effective one that offers subtle, natural looking results. By gently shifting sagging tissues in an upward direction, this technique allows the surgeon to produce a relaxed, fresh appearance while preserving and enhancing the natural contours of the patient’s face.

COSMETOLOGY INDUSTRY – DEMAND ANALYSIS Cosmetic surgery is not exactly a 20th century vanity. Although many of its innovations are the products of only the last two decades, as a field of medical practice cosmetic surgery dates far, far back - to the times of the Indian surgical wiz, Sushruta, in fact. That's the fifth century B.C. and the Sushrut Samhita tells how he used a flap of skin from the cheek and forehead to restructure a nose lost through accident or punishment. What's new about cosmetic surgery is its current popular image. No longer are nose jobs and tummy tucks a preserve of the affluent set or the glamour professions. Today, not just movie stars and top-drawer models, but also company executives, housewives and college students see the aesthetic ideal as one worth pursuing without apology or guilt. In India, the process has been nudged along by several specific social trends. A totally different kind of impetus has come from the promise and possibilities held out by the burgeoning glamour industry. Thus, the series of Indian triumphs on the international beauty stage in recent years has proved to be a major fillip as thousands of want to-be queens look to cosmetic surgeons to create for them those 'winning' looks and figures. Many Plastic Surgeons were carrying out Cosmetic Surgery procedure as a part of their practice. But as an independent specialty, the first Cosmetic Surgery Centre of India was founded in Bombay on the 4th November 1987 by author Vijay Sharma as a speciality clinic. Currently, it continues to offer only aesthetic surgery procedures, including the face-lift, eyelid surgery, nasal surgery, facial contouring, ear correction, double-chin correction, liposuction, lipectomy, breast implants, breast uplift, breast reduction, Chemical Peeling, botox injections and several more. Worldwide, cosmetic surgery constitutes about 20 to 70 per cent of the practice of renowned plastic surgeons. India is no exception, and in terms of aesthetic sense Indian surgeons are at par with those anywhere else in the world. On the basis of 15 years of a thriving independent practice, it can be confidently stated that the time is overdue for Indian surgeons to opt for cosmetic surgery as an independent specialty. Future Prospects: India’s GDP is growing at a rate of over 9% p.a., on the back of robust growth results declared by the industry and services sectors. The booming software sector, real estate and other sectors have resulted in higher income for the hitherto middle class families. Consequently, the disposable income in the hands of general public has been on the rise. The middle class and high class are now aspiring to reach world standards in all aspects of living. Hence, they are willing to spend on lifestyle products and self-image. Cosmetology improves the looks of people and also enhances their self esteem. Hence, there are more and more people desirous of cosmetic / plastic surgeries not merely for health reasons but for reasons of good looks. Hence, the prospects for the industry and the Company are very bright in the near and medium term. MEDICAL TOURISM – COST ADVANTAGE OF INDIA Medical Tourism is where residents of one country seek to reduce the costs of their medical treatment at home, by having treatments done abroad and cutting the costs dramatically and enjoy a free holiday as well. Medical Tourism has been gaining popularity of late. India has a distinct advantage in this field. India combines world class medical treatment with low costs. The rise in medical tourism has seen cosmetic surgery costs drop by up to 90%, making world class treatments affordable for everyone and the patient also gets to enjoy a free holiday as well. If one has always wanted a face lift, breast enlargement or another procedure one can now afford the look one has always dreamt about, as cosmetic surgery costs have tumbled. An extensive facelift that would cost $20,000 in the U.S would cost under $3,000 in India saving a massive $17,000. Savings are massive across all procedures making cosmetic surgery within the reach of everyone. Added to this pleasure of being among stunning beaches to the mighty Himalayas to the lovely Taj Mahal and thousands of years of culture and much more. India combines world-class healthcare with prices costing a fraction of those in the US or Europe. This year, around half a million foreign patients will travel to India for medical care; in 2002, the number was only 150,000. India is now the leader in medical tourism packages and growth in the industry is improving at more than 30% per annum and looks set to become a multi billion dollar industry. Infrastructure costs are far lower in India and this is reflected in lower cosmetic surgery costs, yet the hospitals are world class.
