Consumption calculation for woven garment Style description : A FULL SLEEVE SHIRT Body length = center front length + shoulder seam allowance + bottom hemming. = 77c.m +1c.m +2c.m = 80c.m Body width = ½ chest + side seam allowance + left front placket +right front placket. = 59c.m+1c.m +1c.m +7c.m +4c.m = 72c.m Back body length = 71c.m + 1c.m +2c.m = 74c.m Back body width = 59c.m +1c.m +1c.m = 61c.m Front body total fabric = length ×width = 80c.m × 72c.m = 5760sqc.m Back body total fabric = length ×width =74c.m ×61c.m = 4514sq c.m Yoke fabric = length ×width = {(49 +2) × (10 +2)} sqc.m = 51×12sqc.m = 612sqc.m Total area of the body = (5760 + 4514 + 612)sqc.m = 10886sqc.m Sleeve length = (actual sleeve –cuff width) + seam allowance = (58c.m -6c.m) + (1 +1)c.m = 52c.m +2c.m
= 54c.m Sleeve width = ½ armhole×2 + under arm seam allowance = 22c.m ×2 + (1 +1)c.m = 46c.m Total area of sleeve = (sleeve length ×sleeve width) ×2sqc.m ={(54 ×46) ×2}sqc.m = 4968sqc.m Pocket Pocket length = (14 + 4.5 + 1)c.m = 19.5c.m Pocket width
= (13 + 2)c.m = 15c.m
Total area of the pocket = (19.5 ×15)sqc.m = 292.55sqc.m Cuff Cuff length = 24c.m + (1 +1)c.m = 26c.m Cuff width = 6c.m + (1 +1)c.m = 8c.m Total area of the cuff = (length ×width) ×2sqc.m = (26 ×8) ×2sqc.m = 416sqc.m So, two cuff =( 416 ×2)sqc.m = 832sqc.m Collar Collar length = 43c.m +1c.m +1c.m = 45c.m Collar width = 8c.m + (1+ 1)c.m = 10c.m
Total area of the collar = (length ×width)sqc.m = (45c.m ×10c.m)sqc.m = 450sqc.m Fabric width = 114.3c.m (cut able) = 45 inch. So, fabric consumption = total body area +total sleeve Area +total pocket area +total cuff area + total collar area. _____________________________________________ + 5 %( wastage) Fabric width 10924 +4968 +292.55 +832 +450 ______________________________ + 5% 114.3 = 152.8132 + 5 % = 160.45386. For metre = 160.45386 / 100 = 1.60453 metre / pc So, for 2000 pieces = 1.60453 ×2000 metre = 3209.06 metre. (Including 5 % wastage)
Size specification of dress shirts 1. Neck size: it is the distance from collar button position to collar hole center position. 2. Band width: this is the width of the band center. 3. Collar width: this is the width of the collar at band center. 4. Collar spread: when folding of the garment is over, it is the distance between two collar points. 5. Collar point length: this is the distance between collar point and the band point. 6. Collar height: height of the center of collar when shirt is folded. 7. Sleeve length: a) distance between band center bottom & end of cuff; b) distance between top of armhole and end of cuff. 8. Sleeve opening: circumferential distance between button positions to button hole when cuffs button is fastened. 9. Cuff length: the length of the cuff shown in the fig. 10.Cuff width: this is the cuff width shown in the figure. 11. Arm hole: the circumferential distance of the arm hole where sleeve & body are attached. 12.Upper arm: this is the distance between top of the arm hole and armpit ×2. 13.Elbow: this is the circumference of the elbow. 14.Across chest: the shortest distance on the chest between two arm holes. 15.Chest: distance on the chest measured 1”- ½” bellow arm hole. 16.Waist: this is the circumferential distance of the waist. 17.Hip: the circumferential distance around the hip. 18.Front length; this is the vertical length of the front measured from band bottom to the end of bottom. 19.Shoulder; this is the length of the top yoke when shirt is spread uniformly upside down. 20.Across back; this is the shortest distance between armholes when the shirt is spread upside down. 21.Yoke length: this is the length of the yoke attached to the back. 22.Back length: this is the vertical length of the back measured from band bottom to the end of bottom. 23.Side seam: this is the distance between bottom of armhole and bottom at the side of the shirt.
