Description

Conservation of Electricity- Carol Aranha Selection of the project We depend on energy for almost everything in our lives. We wish to make our lives comfortable, productive and enjoyable. Hence even if the outside temperature rises a little, we immediately switch on the air conditioner to keep our house cool. This is again using up of energy. Unfortunately, what we do not realize is that we have starting taking things for granted and we have started wasting energy unnecessarily.

So the present study is an ambitious attempt to highlight how people unconsciously waste a lot of Electricity. It also concerns why one should conserve Electricity for the betterment of our environment.

Objectives To analyze highlight how people unconsciously waste a lot of Electricity To study the awareness among people about Conservation of Electricity To understand the misuse of Electricity To find out the efforts taken by people to Conserve Electricity

Relevance of the topic Electricity conservation means making an effort to reduce the consumption of Electricity. Electricity can be produced in many ways. It is produced by the burning of fossil fuels, by water, by wind, by nuclear fission, and by bio-waste. Among these methods of producing electricity, electric companies often resort to the burning of fossil fuels and the utilization of water dams in order to produce electricity. These most commonly used methods can harm the environment. When electric companies burn fossil fuels, the process produces a large amount of carbon dioxide that greatly pollutes the air. The production of electricity by water seems to be a better means since it minimizes air pollution. However, this method can affect the natural ecosystem of water bodies. If we don’t save electricity, there is a continuous demand for generating electricity. The more we consume electricity, the more the electric companies will burn fossil fuels or use water dams in order to provide the electricity we need. If that happens, the environment will suffer more of the by-products of the process.

Proposed methodology I have selected questionnaire method for my Project The sample size for this survey is taken as 20 Format of The questionnaire

1. Do you depend on ceiling fans in your house for cooling, rather than depending on high Energy consuming devices like air coolers and air conditioners? Yes/No

2. Does the building have fluorescent lighting fixtures? Yes/No

3. Are all appliances turned off when work is completed? Yes/No

4 Does any one in your home perform a “Night close-out Checklist”? Yes/No

5. Are all people living in the building concerned about energy conservation measures and Each individual has a sense of responsibility? Yes/No

Analysis Efforts taken by people to Conserve Electricity-27 per cent

Efforts untaken by people to Conserve Electricity-73 per cent Ceiling fans are a good addition to natural ventilation, to Increase air circulation and keep the occupants of the building cool and comfortable. Air Coolers and air conditioners used for this purpose use a lot of energy and are expensive to Operate. Fluorescent light bulbs use much less electricity than incandescent bulbs. They also last for a Long Time. Leaving any unused appliance “on” means wasting useful

Electricity. No unused appliance should remain “on” after the work is completed. A “night close-out checklist” usually ensures that all energy conservation measures are complied with. Ensure the list covers turning off all unnecessary Equipments, fans, lights, closing or opening doors and windows according to season. If an owner decides to Lower the energy bills of the building, there is no doubt that it will come down. It is easier to conserve energy when one knows how much is used. Comparing costs and discussing Energy conservation makes us all aware of the need to save energy.

Embracing an energy efficient lifestyle today will help you get a better life tomorrow. So let us slow down the demand for energy and give a better future for our coming generation.

Conclusion “I should be more careful about turning on our electric powered devices,Use them as you only need it, not waste electricity, not waste the remaining life of Mother Earth”

Report writing

Electricity conservation means making an effort to reduce the consumption of Electricity. Electricity is wonderful, but making it isn't quite harmless. Conserving energy will help us protect our air, water, soil, wildlife, and pocketbook Saving electricity could dramatically reduce the coal demand which could reduce the pollution caused by coal extraction. Saving electricity could also reduce the amount of coal been used. Sulfuric or nitric gases generated from the coal burning process are the most important contributors to acid rain. This is the most harmful pollution to the local area, especially for agriculture and fishing and will cause skin cancer. Saving electricity can help reducing these kinds of pollution.

It helps conserve natural resources. Every citizen in the world is aware that electricity prices are constantly increasing. What a lot of people may not know is the reason for these hikes. Well, one of the most compelling causes is the depletion of the sources of electricity, including coal, oil, and gas. It reduces carbon footprint. By opting to limit your home’s or office’s use of fossil products and utilizing solar, geothermal, or hydro power instead, you are not only saving electrical energy, but also reducing greenhouse emission in the environment. As a result, there is less pollution.

According to the Hunter’s Hill Council, “using energy wisely in the home saves money and the environment” Fuel prices have skyrocketed today and the same can be said about the electricity that we use at home. The combined effect is too expensive for us to bear. There is no way we can stop the hike in fuel prices. We cannot make energy cost less either. It has become quite imperative to find an alternative method of using electricity before the prices reach at an extremely high level. That is the only solution we have at hand.

To help Mother Earth escape from her impending doom, we should all conserve electricity to lessen the demand of generating Use fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs as your source of lighting at home. Fluorescent bulbs are found to be four times more efficient than incandescent bulbs but they can also provide the same amount of lighting in your home. Of course, you should turn them off when not in use. Use fans instead of air conditioners. An air conditioner consumes too much electrical power. To make your home cooler, open the windows to let the fresh air in. Set your refrigerator temperature at 37 to 40 degrees and your freezer at 05 degrees. Close the door quickly after you select an item.

Unplug! Up to 75% of the electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while the products are turned off. Appliances like computers, tv’s, cable boxes, cell phone chargers, coffee makers, etc. all continue to consume energy just by being plugged in into an outlet. Turn lights off in unoccupied areas, including porch lights when you go to bed.

Buy light bulbs that are 60 watts or less. Even better, get energy-saving compact fluorescent lights. They last much longer and you won’t have to change them as often. Turn kitchen and bath exhaust fans off when there is no need for them. Purchase the most energy efficient appliance you can afford. All it takes is a commitment to begin paying attention to the many small energy-draining details that can make a noticeable difference in your overall energy usage The small steps you take to save energy can add up, bit by bit, and can have a profound influence on everything around you!
