Scenario PATH Education (pvt) Ltdis a company that specializes in IT training courses like Computer Networks, Computer Hardware, Linux Professional, and CCNA.PATH Education has decided to introduce a NEW training course for IT Executives called ITET (IT Executive Training) starting in January 2012. The training course will be similar, in content, to BTECH HND Computer Systems. You have been appointed as an IT Consultant for PATH Education. Your main role is an implement NEW LAB (Practical and Theory) for new ITET course. PATH management will hope maximum 15 studentsper batch. Once the specification has been accepted you will be required to set up the hardware and software for the ITET lab. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
The PCs should have sufficient hardware requirements. The PCs should have installed required software. There should be at least one printer accessible to all PCs via the network. Wherever possible compact peripheral devices should be used. “Health and Safety is crucial to the effective operation of a computer”. When designing lab must follow Ergonomics rules.
Aim To enable learners to understand computer systems and apply theoretical knowledge to practical application when building, configuring and maintaining computer systems. Task 1 1. Create brief report for two Branded Micro computers and server computers(Hint: HP and DELL) and role of computers in different environments. 2. Research and prepare a report that describes the hardware and software, which could be used to implement the required solution namely: A. Identify followings, Mother boards Processors RAM Hard disk NIC Sound card VGA card Display devices Backup devices B. Printers (Color Ink Jet and Laser Printer) C. Two different Operating Systems (MS Windows or Linux) D. Application software (Open Source).
Task 2 1. Submit a separate report that contains your specification of the hardware and software required for the ITET lab. 2. Include a full discussion of the features, comparisons, cost benefits and pros and cons of any suggested hardware and software (at least 5 peripherals). Hint: (Although the hardware and software will not be replaced for at least 3 years, it should provide scope for expansion) 3. Clearly explain Ergonomics or Ergonomics rules which attached with the computers.
Task 3 Produce a report on followings that contains appropriate screen dumps as evidence. A. Set up the ITET lab with your specified hardware, system software, other software (minimum 3 applications) installed and configured. B. Make sure VGA, Sound and NIC has installed properly. C. Make sure each computer has at least three partitions called “MASTEROS”, “SOFTWARE” and “DATA”. D. Create new user account called “ITET” and which has no administrator rights. E. Assign strong password for inbuilt administrator account.
Task 4 1. Create user guide for considering following, it will be used by the lab technician and by student’s who may need support for running the applications in the computer lab. User guide for one application software which help to ITET user User guide for Lab technician with list of hardware and software upgrade in future (Wire connections, BIOC CMOS configurations, hardware devices, software updating, and defragment, disk clean up, file or folder management and backup) 2. Make a TEST plan to make sure all PC are working perfectly and design small sticker for computers, which shows the hardware and software details.
