Prerequisites: 1. You will need access to NX CAM 9.0.3 in order to run this demonstration. 2. If you haven’t done so already, download and unzip machine_blade_without_edge_rolling.7z.

Demo: 1. Open edge_rolling_blisk.prt in NX.

2. In the background of the graphics window, right-click and choose Orient ViewRight.

3. Double-click MULTI_BLADE_ROUGH to edit the operation. 4. In the Drive Method section of the dialog box, click Blade Rough

.

The Blade Edge options control where the path stops following the blade geometry and begins extensions that are not driven by the blade shape. 5. Select Along Blade Direction from the Blade Edge list.

6. Expand the Trailing Edge section of the dialog box and be sure that Same as Leading Edge is selected from the Edge Definition list.

7. Click Display

. 4

Along Blade Direction is an existing option that establishes the reference point at the highest path position on the leading edge and the lowest path position on the trailing edge by projecting along the blade direction. There is no tangential extension of the tool path.

8. Select Along Part Axis from the Blade Edge list.

9. Click Display

.

Along Part Axis is an existing option that establishes the reference point at the highest path position on the leading edge and the lowest path position on the trailing edge by projecting along the centerline of the part. Notice that the tool path rolls around the blade edges.

10. Select No Curling from the Blade Edge list.

11. Click Display

. 5

No Curling is a new option that extends the tool path tangentially without rolling around the sharp corners.

You can also enter an Extension value to further extend the path tangentially. 12. Type 100.000 in the Extension box to extend the tool path at the leading and trailing edge 100% of the tool diameter.

13. Click Display

.

14. Click OK to finish editing the drive method. 15. Click OK to finish editing the operation. 16. Close the part without saving
