Relevant Professional Experience Service Department Manager: Black Roofing, Inc. Boulder, CO Content on the department’s Web page did not accurately reflect its service offerings, capabilities and commitment to quality. Overhauled the department’s Web pages to engage prospective customers and depict the department more professionally online by rewriting service descriptions and selecting, optimizing and posting new digital photos. Revamped department operations by:      

collaborating with the project manager to develop and implement a spreadsheet for project bidding; meeting daily with field crews to review project status reports and customer complaints; preparing and submitting pre-project inspection presentations to prospective customers; soliciting pricing from equipment and material vendors; preparing project estimates and competitive bids; and serving as client liaison to obtain feedback for improving service quality.

Outcomes achieved: 1) a higher quality online representation of the department’s capabilities and core values; 2) more complete, detailed project documentation; 3) accurately priced bid estimates; 4) a steady decline in the frequency of customer complaints; and 5) a margin increase of 20 percent on $1.4 million in project revenues in eleven months. Project Manager: Douglass Colony Group, Inc. Commerce City, CO Projects awarded to the company were suffering “scope creep” and losing money. Staff and executive management were bombarded with customer complaints when scheduled installation dates were missed and product quality expectations were not met. Resolved these issues by:        

submitting required project documentation (e.g., material specifications, product literature); scheduling and coordinating installations; soliciting competitive pricing from material and rental equipment suppliers; generating purchase orders, tracking shipments, and coordinating deliveries; monitoring fabrication and installation quality; preparing and submitting change orders; tracking labor costs and generating project status and financial reports; and managing customer relations.

Repeated project successes led to multiple, simultaneous project assignments for the company’s Aluminum Panel, Solar, Roofing, and Architectural Metal Divisions totaling more than $5 million in 24 months.

Production Manager: Crossroads Church of Denver, Wheat Ridge, CO Worked closely with teams of creative and administrative staff and recruited, trained and directed volunteers to produce and deliver live presentations; design, produce and maintain the content of the church’s Web site (www.crossroadsdenver.org); and produce print and digital media. Collective accomplishments included:  created and applied a new institutional branding and corresponding public messaging;  redesigned the Web site including application of new graphics, layout, structure and taxonomy;  produced and managed Web site content (e.g., digital brochures, fliers, bulletins, program descriptions, videos);  deployed live video streaming and audio podcasting/RSS feed platforms;  developed and integrated online member registration, opt-in email news dissemination, and membership data tracking capabilities;  established and promoted e-commerce capability; and  produced and delivered hundreds of professional multimedia presentations. By enhancing users’ Web site experience (i.e., greater functionality, intuitive structure and navigation, improved content): 1) monthly site visits grew from 900 to more than 2,500; 2) hundreds of thousands of dollars were saved in avoided broadcasting, printing and production costs; 3) new virtual audiences were engaged; 5) membership data collection and warehousing was automated; and 4) hundreds of members and supporters began making credit card contributions online. Web Communications Manager: Convergent Group Corp. Greenwood Village, CO Hired by to execute “e-business solutions” online marketing campaign announcing the company’s initial public stock offering. Led the production, digital conversion and posting of marketing collateral (e.g., press releases, factoids, news briefs, client/partner project summaries) on the corporate Web site and online business newswires. Campaign effectiveness resulted in sale of controlling interest in company stock to a multinational corporation within three months. EREC/EREN Project Leader: National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO Directed and participated on cross-organizational project teams that strategically planned and managed operations of U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Clearinghouse (EREC) and Network (EREN) Web portal (eren.doe.gov). Desired program objectives entailed:  creating branding and public messaging complimentary to the established DOE brand;  producing promotional materials (e.g., exhibits, fliers, brochures, business cards, public service announcements);  copywriting and editing;  producing a series of 40 award-winning consumer publications;  designing, developing, populating and managing the EREN portal content;  establishing graphic design, digital photo and content quality standards for EREN-branded sites;  converting and posting electronic versions of EREC consumer publications, fact sheets, and DOE research and technology deployment program documents;  selecting, configuring, and deploying an internal search engine;  identifying and indexing links to hundreds of industry- and technology-specific online resources;  registering Web portal on prominent search engines and indices and optimizing the site for optimum search results;  conducted usability tests of the site’s structure, taxonomy and functionality;  selecting and implementing Web analytics software;  assisting developers of EREN-branded federal research program and regional support office sites; and  establishing production and managing distribution of an opt-in EREN Users Group email newsletter. EREC achievements included: 1) increasing the volume of clearinghouse requests received from 9,000 to more than 75,000 in its second year of operation; 2) receiving “excellent” service quality ratings from 95 percent of its users; and 3) garnering accolades and continued project support from the DOE client. Because EREN hosted and indexed an exhaustive collection of e-publications and related resource links, the site became the premier Web portal of its kind in its third year of operation. “Hits” to the site increased from 615,000 to more than 4,690,000, site visits increased from 53,000 to more than 161,000, and it received national recognition and awards.
