To commission the Coal Feeder and make it available for coal firing of the boiler.

It is proposed to commission the feeders by putting the equipments under 8 Hrs. trail run ( As per the normal operating mode )

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Debris in and around feeders shall be removed.
5.2
First Aid Kit is available near the test area
5.3
Operation of local start/stop push button shall be ensured for perfect operation to facilitate for stopping of equipment in case of necessity.

Approach / staircase / platform wherever required and made available..

Portable fire fighting system made available at test area.

The test team should be aware of the procedure to be adopted in case of damage to machinery/injury of any personnel connected to the activity.

The test team should be well aware of the procedures to be adopted incase of any abnormality in the activity.

All local instrumentation as applicable completed with proper calibration.

.All erection Log Sheets are followed up / signed by concerned agencies with respect to feeder alignment
7.4
Mill Feeder gear box are filled with recommended lubricating oil to the correct level.
7.5
The clean out couveyer gear box checked for lubrication / oil filled to correct level.
7.6
Ffeeder drive motor & clean out couveyer motor checked for its IR value and cleared for commissioning.
7.7
Feeder inspected & cleared for any debris or any foreign material.
7.8
The illumination lamp inside the feeder energized for proper lighting
7.9
The feeder inlet manual gates are checked for their freeness and the operation of full open / close limit swiches. The gates are kept in fully closed condition before taking up the commissioning of the feeder.

METHOD
8.1
Commissioning of Feeder
STATUS
8.1.1
Check the meggar value of motor and ensure that the value is satisfactory.
8.1.2
Ensure that the feeder inside is clean without any foreign material.
8.1.3
Check that the weigh span rollers are properly aligned as per O & M manual.
8.1.4
Check that the belt tension is adjusted as per the instuction given in O & M manual.
8.1.5
Start the feeder.
8.1.6
Adjust the take up pulley at the rear side so that the belt runs exactly at the center and doesn’t deviate slowly to any one side. When the belt slips to any one side, the corresponding side’s tension adjustment screw to be adjusted such a way that the belt tightness increases in that side marginally.
8.1.7
Allow the feeder to run for 8 hr trial with belt running smoothly without requiring any adjustment.
8.1.8
Start the clean out conveyer and run for four hour trail run.
8.1.9
After completion of the trial run, calibriate the feeder for gravimetric mode operation.

Check the indication of feeder speed / weight are same both in control panel and in UCB.

Check the operation of ‘No Coal’ alarm switch, ‘Feeder chute pluggage’ paddle switch, ‘Belt deviation’ limit switches by simulation.

Commission the other Feeders as per steps given above

COMPLETION CRITERIA
Commissioning of the coal feeder completed by carrying the proposals given in Section 3.0
