International Conference on

Coal and Coke In view of the high volatility of the coal market based on highly bullish metallurgical coke demand globally, coal sourcing for coke making and cost effective coke making process with environment friendly technology has become the biggest challenge. Keeping this in view and to re energize the thought process by both coke and coal producers, the Indian Institute of Metals, Jamshedpur in collaboration with Tata Steel Ltd is going to organize an International Conference at Jamshedpur during April 7-8, 2011 on Coal and Coke

Scope of the Seminar It is expected that this conference would be attended by coal producers, coke makers and Hot Metal producers. Finding ways and means of Prolonging the life of Coke oven Battery to sustain good quality coke production in an environment friendly atmosphere would be the added features of this conference. Participation of research laboratories and academic institutes will enrich and add value to this seminar. In addition to the plenary session and the key note addresses, an optional

visit to the Stamp Charge

Battery of Tata Steel is also being planned.

About Jamshedpur Jamshedpur, as the burgeoning township of Sakchi was re-named in 1919 as a tribute to Tata Steel’s Founder, is India’s first planned industrial and most cosmopolitan city. It is situated in the eastern part of India and has a pleasant climate in February, temperatures hovering around 15 C at night and 25 C during day time. Jamshedpur is well connected with all the metros like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai by train. The nearest airport is in Ranchi which is 150km from Jamshedpur.
