1. Hardware specification specification
1.1 Overview New Isac CNC model 2016, equipped with operative system W8E and Isac firmware Costantino introduces one of the most significant change on typical Isac CnC configuration. Instead of using a CPU unit inside the electric cabinet and a remote monitor / USB for the operator now the remote monitor (Emmegi HMI Panel ) is the CPU and only through an EtherCAT ( LAN ) communication communication is connected to the hardware called “Bridge” located on the electric cabinet. That Bridge is specific for each machine type (the picture is an full example) and depends on the hardware it has to manage. The Bridge could be connected to: The Mechatrolink Yaskawa Drive communication bus cable The CANOpen communication bus cable The Step/Dir cable to manage the Schneider impulse Drive -

The Costantino Cnc is a standalone Windows 8 Embedded Standard 64bit IPC (Industrial PC) equipped with a multicore processor and where a “processor core” and a specific quantity of RAM are dedicated to the CNC management. This will allow to run the latest 64 bit applications on machine side without influence the CnC process. The next chapter will describe the Costantino’s CNC details and the EtherCAT Bridges types. types.

TEMPERATURE CONDITIONING KIT

It is possible to mount on the PanePC an optional Fan: this allow to work on factory while ambient temperature is over 40° C. The Temperature Conditioning Kit is composed by a fan kit with a dedicated 3.5 Jack connector for the power supply : 12V DC The kit is designed to fit on the heat sink on the back of the PanelPC. Use the 2 screw on the top to embrace it and connect the power supply cable on the jack hole located near the 24V 9pin connector. The PanelPC OPMMIPC007 ( I7 version ) is already equipped with the Fan Kit.

1.6 Power on, users and shutdown procedure Power On The Costantino Cnc is 24Vdc powered powered and will turn on directly when the power is On. The Bios screen will appear: push “ Delete key “ to entry on Bios settings. Omitting password allow to entry as user and all the modify are denied. You will not need to entry and modify BIOS settings. Please contact Emmegisoft Support in case you will need password. After the Bios screen we need to logon: Embedded users: There are two pre-built users in the image that conform with the Microsoft Windows 8 deployment best practice: Assistance:: it is a user that belongs to the Administrators group. Use this user to make OS Assistance configuration and to install the software. This is the user that assistance operators should use. This user replaces XPE Administrator user. Default password is: emmegisoft Client: itit is the user that should be used by machine operators, and has limited capabilities. It belongs to the groups “Users” (Windows builtbuilt-in) and “PLC Users” for RTPLC limited access. Optionally it can be assigned to “PLC Power Users” for more RTPLC capabilities. The purpose of this user is the same as XPE Client user. Default password is: xpeclient is: xpeclient Administrator user is present but disabled and never used, as suggested by Microsoft. By default, password of local user never expires. It is not recommended to change this behavior even if this in contrast to the Microsoft Windows Security Best Practice. Shutdown procedure A correct machine shutdown will require to shutdown Windows 8 before. As Windows 8 procedure: 1. Mouse over the little gadget in the lower right corner of the screen. (You can also move your mouse cursor to the upper left corner; same result. Or, you can press Windows-C Windows-C on your keyboard.) 2. In the slide-out menu (known as the Charms Bar) that appears, click Settings Settings.. 3. Click the the Power button, and then click your desired action: action: Shut down ( down (or or Restart )
Remarks: Before turn off power supply you need to wait the complete black screen. Unlike the previous OS XPE doesn’t appear any end screen that inform the user that can turn off the power.

2.1 Windows Embedded 8 Standard: How to Run a Setup.exe To run a program installation successful, you have to click the right button on the application icon and, from the context menu, click "Run "Run as administrator ""..
Alternatively you can do the same thing from the Start Menu of Windows W indows Embedded 8. By clicking the icon with the right button we enable the options on the bottom bar: click " Run as administrator " to properly run a program or an installation.

2.2 W8E Ope Open n Close Tool : management of the pa partition rtition C:\ protection This program allow you to manage data protection in the C partition, the one that contains the Windows 8 Operative System, through the operation called Open and Close. This operation is similar to the XPE CnC operation called Hdcommit. In the XPE CnC system, due to the Compact Flash Disk Drive, the system is always on the Closed state. Any change on C: drive need to be stored by the Hdcommit.bat command. On Costantino Cnc we are using SSD technology as Disk Drive that are considered similar to Hard Disk Drive for the number of memory write operations. That allow us more freedom on the maintenance operation of the Windows 8 Operative System.
Closed (default): EWF (default): EWF or FWBF is enabled, the "paging" RAM is disabled, Windows Updates is disabled; The closed configuration is more stable and reduces the writings on the solid state drive to minimum. All installation procedures require to execute the command Hdcommit.bat Hdcomm it.bat to store the changes. Thus the operating system is guaranteed from being damaged by unmanaged installations, viruses, setting changes untrusted, power black-out, etc. The disadvantages are: - Installation procedures more complicated - Virtual memory is limited to the physical memory - Restore points are disabled
Open : EWF or FWBF not enabled, the "paging" RAM is enabled in the C:, Windows Updates is set to Open : notify you when updates are available. The open configuration allows the user to manage the operating system and installed programs as a conventional desktop PC : for example Windows and Emmegi Software updates operations doesn’t need any command Hdcommit.bat. Obviusly it is highly recommended to not install software different than the original pre-installed: such changes may cause errors unforeseen and unforeseeable. The disadvantages are: - Possible change of operating system data by unauthorized personnel - Possible loss of data due to incorrect operating system shutdown (eg. Power failure, etc.)
Remarks: On Emmegi Working Center the system will be supplied always on Closed Status (more stable).

REMARKS REMARKS This procedure will minimize the Close operations ( Hdcommit ) that should be dangerous: this shutdown is critical and must not terminate in a wrong way or some dangerous: data in the physical volume can be damaged, even resulting in the impossibility to reboot again.

This program allow you to create a Windows Restore Point : a point useful to try to solve Windows Operative System problem .
This tool is using the same option present on Control Panel > Windows Recovery. This utility can create 2 type of backup:
Full Restore Point ( BackupRecovery) : create a full backup of the selected drive ( normally C: ) Light Restore Point (ModifySettings) : create : create the backup of Windows Registry
Inserting the name and click on “Create …” will create a new Restore Point. As Windows 8 Windows 8 rules this point is “hidden and inaccessible inaccessible”. ”. The restore operation need to use the Standard Windows tools: right click on the MyComputer icon , select Properties and open System protection: Use:

Description
The Emmegisoft software package on the CnC hardware follows the scheme described on the upper table and is as a pyramid scheme: you will need the presence of the bottom row before install the next one. For example, first of all, you will need the hardware that are working properly even the Windows 8 Standard SSD Drive. If they are not working or you have doubt refer to the codes to order new parts. Then we will need the CD of complete installation: that CD (or a folder on pen drive) contains only machine installation software: -
Costantino OSCnc 7.2.xx : the the OSC OSCNC NC software Plc X.XXX - Cnc X.XXX - Drill X.XXX : the Plc, Cnc, Drill, BidiCAM software
Then you can install the optional software following their specific procedure. NOTE: when you order a new SSD ( level 3 ) you will receive the spare parts ready for the specific machine s/n and this will include the level 4-5-6-7 already installed. For machine side installation you will need: -
the Complete installation folder : we call this: “CD installation machinename” the Machine Data Backup created by the Emmegisoft-Saveconf application application the MachineInstallation Folder from the CD of CAMplus - Job the Standard setup for other optional software.
For office side installation you have to follow a similar scheme starting from the point 6 but you can’t use the machine installation. You need to use the folder CED_ machinename machinename on C: of the machine created by the Complete machine installation. That folder contain the setup.exe that you have to run for DrillBidiCAM installation for Office. Then if you have Camplus-Job option or others run the Standard setup.

2. Loading the Backup Machine Data : from the folder Emmegisoft run : CopyConf. At the end a restart is required IMPORTANT: do not run CNC from CNC Status Monitor before loading the specific backup or, if is brand new machine, the backup MASTER more similar. 4) First Run of CnC from Cnc Status Monitor 1. Login as "Assistance" 2. After load the machine Backup and restart make sure that: - If there are RTA motor, they are already loaded and ready to CAN communication (see section xx) - The Emmegi Pilot is ready to CAN communication (see section xx) - The Confmac corresponds to the current machine configuration. 3. If all the requisite ore ok push Start from CNC Status Monitor 4. Wait for the Green flag on the CNC icon 5. Verify axis movement 6. In case of updating the software of the machine must verify the correct values R4 = 2.100 {S / W Version CNC} R5 = 7.200 {S / W Version OS CNC} 7. If everything is ok make a new backup with the utility Emmegisoft>SaveConf 8. Stop the Framework from CNC Status Monitor 9. Restart the machine 10. Login as "Assistance" and verify that the Cnc work fine as usual ( start Drill program ) 11. If everything is ok and we finish to install new software turn the W8E on Close Configuration ( see chapter 2.2)
InTime RTOS license NOTE : The first start of Cnc on a brand new SSD will not run the Cnc. This is because the first run of Cnc will create the InTime RTOS license. If the Intime icon is yellow after click Start Start on on CncStatus Monitor you you will see Cnc is starting and starting and after Cnc is not running. Verifying the Event viewer of Windows you will see the Event: RTPLC RTPLC ID :151 . Restart Windows. After Windows Logon the InTime icon now is red and it is possible to Start Cnc with no problem.

3.5 Machine Software Hardlock The Hardlock Hardlock is an Hardware “software protection” protection” that enable Drill options depending by the machine. Unlike Windows XPE, the Costantino doesn’t doesn’t have a parallel port on board. The Costantino “machine options Hardlock ” now is like like a USB key and is one for machine. The key store the options enabled and the serial number of the machine : it’s not allowed interchange the key from one machine to another . The software that manage the Hardlock USB Key is the VPLC. There are 2 case we need to use VPLC : 1: Update machine option 2: Execute the pairing procedure
Machine options update The new Hardlock Usb System allow to enable software option without wait to receive a physical key: it is possible to enable it from remote. When you need to integrate new software option please follow these steps: A: The customer must purchase the option via the reference Sales office. B: Write an email to

VPLC Failure Failure : Drill Pairing procedure Drill , on startup, check if the key is present and correct: if yes on the About panel it’s showed the options enabled otherwise a message box say “ VPLC not Responding” that means : the key is not present or it is not aligned. It is possible to look the active options relative to the machine serial number through the Drill button “ ? “ and also the state of the key activation. The picture “ About “ below show a system working fine.
The case of key not aligned could happen after Costantino Hardware replace, changes on current machine software such as OSCnc , Plc/Cnc or the reset of the retentive memory. In that cases Drill will start on “safe mode” : it is possible to use the program but it’s not allowed to load an LDA: even the button “Open LDA” is hidden.

4.Troubleshooting 4.1 Event viewer The “Windows Event Viewer” is a Windows OS utility used utility used also by the Cnc software to Log any hardware/software alarm, warning and info. This is the official instrument that can allow to navigate, to investigate and to make better diagnosis of eventual problems that can occur in time. 4.2 CAN Open Configurator The CanOpen Configurator program is an application to allow diagnosis with the CanOpen Devices connected to the Bridge. It’s possible to check all the CanOpen devices connected and powered to the CanOpen OUT port of the Bridge and verify if they are recognized and the address and baudrate used to communicate.

4.3 CnC Retentive Memory Reset ( zzz.bat ) Some cases could require to manually reset the Retentive Variable Area used , for example, to storage the current tool on spindle or the clamp positions : That is named Retentive Memory Area. Typically after change Costantino Cnc but mount the old SSD or similar cases or sometimes after seen very strange Alarm or Cnc crash we need to reset the whole Retentive Memory Area. This , for example on the first case, could be caused by a misalignment of variables or , the second case, the corruption of an Retentive Variable. However it is possible to use this procedure to try if the current strange problem is because the Retentive Memory Area was not ok. 5. Network connection using Costantino CnC 5.1 Requirements for the connection of machining centers on Integrated Systems
Emmegisoft applications for machining centers ( Drill, CAMplus, Job, Shape, …) are able to work into an integrated system based on data usually stored on the user's company server. The user can set all the paths of the various types of affected files (file to open and the file to export) and this giving the system a great flexibility of configuration. In this section we will be taken into account only the configuration model which, in our opinion, is the most efficient from the point of view of user friendly functionality and data safety. In the bottom image the enterprise server is the hub of the system: all data is saved in one or more folders on the server and users of each location in the office and machine operators are reading and writing the same data to avoid copies of files. This system allows: - Have a complete data synchronization - Edit the same program for both office and machine location (for example a small tolerance change ..) - Export job list even if the machines turned off - Have data automatically saved from normal backup procedures that professionals make daily on company data center.

The button Properties allows to change the IP address. The address is changed by selecting the line ((TCP / IPv4) and clicking on button Properties. It is possible to use an automatic IP address (DNS) or a fixed IP address: this is depending on the customer network configuration defined by the company network officer (CED). In cases of instability or diagnosis of network performance it is preferable to use a fixed address.
Network operation tip:
Using cmd command line you can type: ipconfig – ipconfig –all all : see all the network configurations and IP ping (address or pcname) pcname) : test the connection with the address ping (address or pcname) -t -t : test the connection with the address continuously. This test is very important if we have to check any casual network error .
Sometimes change the user network switch will solve some network instability.

How to to set Computer Name and Workgroup on Costantino Cnc Cnc On Costantino CnC is only possible to work using Windows Workgroup. Is not possible to work with DOMAIN mode because the Windows 8 Standard is an embedded operative operative system that are using his dedicated automation software and not all the Domain configuration are supported by default; for the same reason it is also avoid to load or integrate the original OS image with software different from the original configuration. Normally we don’t need to change these setting but if we have more than one o ne working centre could be that we have the same pc name ( EMMEGI-ISAC-||| ) on the same network. From Windows file explorer , right click on Computer icon and select Properties: We will see the Windows System specifications ( bottom image).

How to set network on the User server side
The server-side operations are complete responsibility of the IT services specialists of the End User (CED). On Costantino CnC is not possible to work with DOMAIN mode because the Windows 8 Standard is an embedded operative system that are using automation software integrated with hardware and not all the Domain configuration are supported by default; for the same reason it is also forbidden load or integrate the original OS image with software different from the original configuration. The IT services specialists (CED Dept.) of the End User have to: -create a folder (usually called MGSDATA) and share it to the machine and to all users who need to use it with complete control (reading and writing); in case of problems for test we can give to the user Everyone all the permission. permission. -provide the user name and password with which we will have access to the folder on machine side.
If testing or the company have not a server you can use a normal PC as a server: We need to share a folder on the network (usually called MGSDATA) on the office PC. To be able to read by the machine or by other PCs need to enter username and password of the current user of the PC or, in case we want to use a different user user name than the habitual user of the PC (for example username: emmegi password: xxxxx password: xxxxx ), ), we have to create a new Windows user on that PC.

How to set network path on Emmegisoft application
As described on the chapter 4.1 (Requirements for the network connection of machining centers ) we have to create a folder on the server then we need to change the path on the Emmegisoft application. The fastest method is perform by Map as network drive the folder MGSDATA. In the bottom example is called Z: ; we can switch the default letter from C: or D to Z: on the Drill Preferences and Preferences and Emmegisoft Configurator .. It is also easy to reverse and turn off network connection by change the first letter.
