I work in continuous rounds rather than joining each round. This gives a better appearance for amigurumi, however you can do whatever way you prefer.  When decreasing in the round, using an invisible decrease looks a lot cleaner on amigurumi. amigurumi. To do this simply only crochet into the front loops on decrease stitches.

chain(ch) single crochet (sc) double crochet (dc) half double crochet (hdc) triple/treble crochet (tr/trc) slip stitch (sl st)

1: 6 single crochet in a magic circle (6) 2: 2sc in each stitch around (12) 3: *1sc, 2sc in next stitch* repeat around - 6 times (18) 4: *2sc, 2sc in next stitch* repeat around - 6 times (24) 5: *3sc, 2sc in next stitch* repeat around - 6 times (30) 6: *4sc, 2sc in next stitch* repeat around - 6 times (36) 7: *5sc, 2sc in next stitch* repeat around - 6 times (42) 8-16: sc evenly around (42) 17: *5sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 6 times (36) 18: *4sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 6 times (30) Begin Stuffing 19: *3sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 6 times (24) 20: *2sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 6 times (18) 21: *1sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 6 times (12) Finish off, leaving the head open, and finish stuffing

4: 5sc, 2sc in next stitch - switch to black, 5sc, 2sc in next stitch - switch to red, 5sc, 2sc in next stitch - switch to black, 5sc, 2sc in next stitch - switch to red (28) 5-10: sc evenly around, alternating between red and black to make even stripes (28) (Continue stripes for the rest of the body) 11: *4sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* - 4 times, 4sc (24) Begin Stuffing 12: Sc evenly around (24) 13: *4sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 4 times (20) 14: *8sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 2 times (18) Finish off, leaving the body open, and finish stuffing

So metimes using the end of a pencil eraser to push in the stuffing helps on smaller parts

Sc around (12) 6-7: sc around (12) Begin Stuffing 8: Switch to black. Sc around (12) 9: Switch to red. *2sc, decrease over next 2 stitches* repeat around - 3 times (9) 10: sc around (9) Finish off, leaving the legs open, and finish stuffing Decide which red stripe you want to be the front of his body, and begin sewing on his head. You can use pins to hold each part in place, allowing an easier time keeping them in position. Take your yarn needle through stitch by stitch - o ne stitch on his head to every stitch on his neck.  After attaching the head, move on to sewing his arms and legs to the body in the same way. If you  want him to be waving, sew one arm facing upwards, and the other down at his side.

US Terminology

Cut out 2 large ovals of the same size with black felt. Place them on his head and position them. You can adjust the size if needed.  Then cut out a smaller circle in white felt, and if you would like him to be winking, cut out a small chevron for the other eye. Use craft glue to glue the white pieces to his eyes, then his eyes to his head.

1: Chain 35 2: Join last stitch to first stitch to create a large ring 3: Pin the strap over one of his shoulders and down to his waist

1: Chain 30 2: Join last stitch to first stitch with a sl st to create a large ring 3: Pin the belt around his waist, meeting the should strap on one side Sew both the shoulder strap and belt into place going in and out of the center of the chain Cut out a small circle in black felt and glue it in the center of his belt as a belt buckle.  Aaaaaaand, you're done!!!  

 
