SYSTEM SEVEN As we begin looking at the Guas, we look at Yang and Yin: __________

____

Yang

____

Yin

As they start developing, we see the root for the 8 trigrams in the next 4 differentiations. ________ ___ ___ _______ ___ ___ ________ _______ ___ ___ ___ ___ Tai Yang

Shao Yang

Shao Yin

Tai Yin

This root is the 2 core line, Earth (bottom line) and Man (middle line) that gives the trigram its foundation and body. Trigrams that share this core have a relationship between themselves as shown in the tables below. _____ __ __ _____ __ __ _____ __ __ _____ __ __ _____ _____ __ __ __ __ _____ _____ __ __ __ __ _____ _____ _____ _____ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ UB/GB

HT/PC

SP

LI

LU

ST

SI/TW

LIV/KID

As the trigrams take their place in the Fu Xi Ba Gua, they are arranged according to their Yang and Yin origins. The 4 trigrams originating from Yang are placed together on the left side of the Ba Gua. (It is the Right side if you are standing inside the Ba Gua and looking out). The 4 trigrams originating from Yin are arranged together on the other side. (The left side if you are standing inside the Ba Gua and looking out) This is one of the reasons why the Yang (male energy) is associated with the right side and to balance this, you begin needling males on the left, while women are more Yin (left side of the body) and you begin needling them on their right.

The new balance possibilities that this system allows the acupuncturist are: GB / HT *** GB / PC UB / HT UB / PC

SP / LI

SI / LIV *** SI / KID TW / LIV TW / KID ***

LU / ST

*** Relationship already established in systems 2, 4

The clinical application of System Seven can be seen in the following examples: 1. The classic Koo Koo treatment that works so well is composed of the following: One Side

Other Side

TW

-----------

PC

LIV

-----------

GB

We know that the TW and PC, GB and LIV balance each other according to system 3, so we have a horizontal balance. We know that TW and GB, PC and LIV balance each other according to system one, so we have diagonal balance. Now with the application of New System 7 we see also a balance between TW and LIV, PC and GB, a perpendicular balance, making this a very strong structure. 2. The classic 8 magic points for addressing digestion complaints look even stronger when exploring the perpendicular relationship between the LI and SP and the LU and ST. (We have already seen the relationship between the TW and LIV and PC and GB in the Koo Koo example. 3. The treatment that addresses back issues, harmonizing Tai Yang and Shao Yin looks very good when we add UB and HT, KID and SI perpendicular balance. 4. Using The Spleen, KID or LIV channels to balance shoulder problems is excellent as they balance the SI, SJ and now the LI. New applications are in using SP 5 for wrist pain on the Hand Yang Ming Mai (LI 5), or on the shoulder (LI 15), and LI points to balance SP. (We are using them all the time, this now gives the explanation.)
