People tend to be happier in the midpoint of the daily awake period, happier toward the end of the week. People always talk about “Monday Blue”. For instance, Monday morning feeling is the way people feel after the weekend (= Saturday and Sunday) when they do not want to go to work or school: I've got that Monday morning feeling. As so, moods and emotions are affected. However, Peter asks his boss for his recommendation on Monday, that is the beginning of the week, at 10:00 in the morning, that is the beginning of the awake period. Eventually, Peter failed to convince his his boss for his job promotion. b) Stress Increased stress worsens moods. Even low levels of constant stress can worsen moods. moods. Before Peter asking for his recommendation, Peter’s boss was on a phone call, and shouting on the phone, it may due to something had happened that Peter’s boss unsatisfied with, or didn’t come to his expectation. As so, Peter’s boss is considered under stress. Thus, his mood was down and causing him unpleasant to everything he doing at that moment including Peter’s job promotion approvement. approvement . Due to people tend to be happier in the midpoint of the daily awake period, happier toward the end of the week, it is suggested that Peter should ask for his job promotion on another day like Friday. Friday is suggested because people tend to be more relaxed and happier o this day as this day is near to the weekend or off-day. When people are more relaxing, the possibility of their acceptance of request is higher. Peter’s success rate would be higher.
b)
Peter should wait for his boss cool down first. When people is under stress and anger, requests are often being rejected. It is because they will feel that they are being annoyed that people are being not understanding asking for this and that when they are under stress.
Q4. Emotional labor is pertaining an employee’s expression of organizationally desired emotions during interpersonal transactions at work. Q5. Emotional intelligence: a person’s ability to: Perceive emotions in the self and others, Understand the meaning of these emotions, Regulate one’s emotions emotions in a cascading model.
Q6. The theory that is the most relevant in this situation is emotion intelligence. On the Monday at 10am, Peter is feeling excited for his recommendation while Peter’s boss is feeling angry with his phone call. Peter should understand that he is high-positive moods while his boss is in high-negative moods. Peter should then regulate the sit uation by deferring his request of job promotion until his boss is cool down. Peter should only approach to his boss when his boss’s moods is modified.
