1.  Why would ethics be important to a company like J.M. Smucker? How can its focus on values and ethics improve its business performance?

The J.M Smucker Company is an American manufacturer of fruits spreads ice cream toppings, beverages and other products. The company is also part of being a supplier that carries the goods that are sustains the need of every retailers. Therefore, its daily operations are guided by responsibility when it comes to their business because everything they do counts and everything that counts has its own consequences. In line with this, honesty that gain the trust of its customers and with the goods they produce should be under the standard of its quality not producing the products that can damage their own business performances, it’s also a matter of being fair basis. The company serves every customers right, then customer pays right. The golden rule also says that, “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” Also, respect is one the major value the company should value, we all know that business industry receives lots of complains and they should respect every customer’s voice and also have the attitude of being  professional. The values and ethics improve its business performance very well because it set its standard to value their customers with the help of their own employee to be openminded ones which Smucker communicates that it wants its employees to act with truth over loyalty community over the individual, and a long-term over short-term company interest.

 

2.  Appearing on “best places to work” lists can increase an employer's popularity, even among lower-qualified applicants. The increased volume of applicants can be costly and time-consuming. What do you feel are the benefits and drawbacks to being on this type of list? Do you think that it is generally beneficial to be publicly recognized as a good employer? Why or why not?  not? 

Ethics is important to a company and being ethical in all work performances can make a  performance well and can get the attention of the best and worthy worker. wo rker. Hence, when an employer is recognized with positive outcome of work performance, it can be a lead for an increase to an employer’s popularity that can draw a significant interest from applicants to try their best and have the will, whether they are qualified or not. The increase volume of applicants may provide positive and negative effects for the employer, due to them of changing their ways and approach of hiring for new applicants. Likewise, if the employers had gone changes with unplanned process, everything might  be a destruction to lose their applicants determination to apply. Therefore, Th erefore, yes, having a good employer is one of the best outputs that can manage each applicant to have their confident as a role model that they the y can admire to aim high as they work.

 

3.  Do J.M. Smucker's values and culture appeal to you as a potential employee? Why or why not?

Yes, because as I could observe through the details given, they ensure that the company meets the highest ethical standards starts with hiring people who already have a strong  personal value systems, which each new hire attends a daylong training seminar that includes presentations by company officials, videos, and breakout sessions on moral awareness, moral courage and values. Therefore, as a potential employee, I can still manage to enhance my abilities and skill with work performances with the sessions will  be applied that would also help me improve my values and culture entering the company. compan y. The J.M Smucker’s also trains their potential employee that aims merits to represent the company by their work performance which they improve the highest business ethics that requires personal ethics, that are responsible people.
