Description

Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Chalk has been very useful in many ways. It is used in school everyday. As researchers, it has been noticed that by the end of the day, there are a lot of chalk dust scattered on the floor. This chalk dust just makes the room look dirty and can cause asthma. With this, the researchers thought about what else can be done with chalk dust. The researchers came up with the idea of using this chalk dust to form chalk again. It is just like recycling the chalk dust. The researchers will add tahong shells in the formation of the new chalk. Tahong shells will be gathered from the eaten tahong. The researchers will use little amount of plaster of plaris that will help the chalk to be harder. The resulting prodect will be tested if it is as good as the original chalk. With this project, chalk can be made a little bit easier and cheaper. And it can make the chalk dust very useful.

A.Statement of the Problem Main Problem: What is the possibility for chalk dust and tahong shells to form new chalk?

Sub-problems: 1. Why can tahong shells be used to make chalk? 2. How effective is chalk dust and tahong shells that are used to make

chalk?

3. What are other materials that can make this experiment possible?

B.Hypothesis

Even though it was found out that tahong shells have same components with chalk, it was hypothesize that there is no possibility that they would chalk. It was found out that tahong shells would not be useful in the experiment, and can make the experiment not possible.

C.Significance of the Study

The study aims to produce something useful in a simple way of recycling the materials that are only being thrown away. The study will also contribute in the preservation of the environment. And can save money.

D.Definition of Terms

Chalk- material used for writing on the blackboard. Tahong shells- bivalve mollusk. Chalk dust- small particles of chalk. Plaster of Paris- it is a type of building material based on calcium sulfate hemihydrate. Mold- the material that should be used to form an object or substance in the desired shape and size. Pound- process used in making materials into powder.

E.Scope and Delimitation

The general purpose of t6he study is to recycle things and make a new product out of that recycled materials. The subject matter being studied and discussed is about the effectiveness of the recycled materials particularly tahong shells and chalk dust to make chalk. The materials were gathered in school in different classrooms. The population includes the teachers and the

students. The period includes the time the researchers will consume in doing the research. The researchers will consume a day or more to make the experiment. F.Conceptual Framework INPUT
