BACKBONE OF DCS...

Description

CENTUM CS3000 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION Forms the BACK BONE  of the DCS unit.

Integrated software, can handle both Small & Large plants.  plants.

Fully optimizes the overall system.

Very easy to learn and is very user-friendly user-frien dly..

CONTROL TYPES

FIELD CONTROL STATION (FCS) ( FCS)

Performs dedicated control functions.

Consists of I/O modules, nodes, marshaling unit, cards.

PARTS OF FCS UNIT 

REMOTE NODES: I/O equipments installed in

remote locations. Communicates with FCS via a remote i/o bus. 

V-NET ROUTER: Connects the i/p network &

existing v-net networks.

HUMAN INTERFACE STATION (HIS) 

Unit which interfaces with the controller.

YOKOGAWA provides 3 types of YOKOGAWA o f HIS :1. ENCLOSED DISPLAY STYLE, 2. OPEN DISPLAY STYLE, 3. DESKTOP TYPE.

HIS consists of :1. DESKTOP PC or LCD MONITOR, 2. TOUCH PANEL, 3. EIGHT LOOP OPERATION KEYS.

FCS AND HIS LAYOUT

ADVANTAGES OF DCS 

 REDUNDANCY,

Less maintenance cost,

Excellent information management,

Less confusion & work load,

Increases Automation, Boost Productivity & Profit,

Reduction in cabeling n/w in Control Room.

IMPLEMENTATION 

Using Functional Blocks , Start/Stop sequence drawn.

Using Switch Menus inputs applied.

Parts of the Drier given specific s pecific Tags.

Controlling parameter is the Temperature.

When temp.>140*C, steam supply is reduced using  PID controller .

CONCLUSION 

The automation of the extruder and tunnel drier system was implemented using DCS and found the system is working satisfactorily with all its operational operation al and safety functions. The DCS control gave us an upper hand in controlling the extruder and tunnel drier system with ease of  operation at minimal man power. The importance of DCS control system and the various instrumentation instrumentation engineering aspects were observed and studied.
