CCNA Exploration Network Fundamentals Instructor Skills-Based Assessment
Scenario In this Skills-Based Assessment, instructors will create a small network that requires connecting network devices and configuring host computers and one Cisco router for basic network connectivity. Subnet A and Subnet B are subnets that are currently needed. Subnet C, Subnet D, and Subnet E are anticipated subnets, not yet connected to the network. The zero subnet will be used. Common utility commands will be used to test and document the network.
Task 1: Design the Logical LAN Topology. Total points: 35 Time: 20 minutes. Given the IP network 209.165.202.128/25, design an IP addressing scheme that satisfies the following requirements: Subnet Subnet A Subnet B Subnet C Subnet D Subnet E
Number of Hosts 5-10 30-50 10-20 3-5 3-5
The all 0s and all 1s subnets are used. No subnet calculators may be used. All work must be shown on the reverse of this Assessment. Subnet A Instructor Input
Specification Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) New IP mask (decimal) Maximum number of usable subnets (including the zero subnet) Number of usable hosts per subnet IP Subnet First IP Host address Last IP Host address
Points (5 points)
Subnet B Specification Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) New IP mask (decimal) Maximum number of usable subnets (including the zero subnet) Number of usable hosts per subnet IP Subnet First IP Host address Last IP Host address
Instructor Input
Points (5 points)

Points (5 points)
Subnet D Instructor Input
Specification Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) New IP mask (decimal) Maximum number of usable subnets (including the zero subnet) Number of usable hosts per subnet IP Subnet First IP Host address Last IP Host address
Points (5 points)
Subnet E Instructor Points Specification Input Number of bits in the subnet (5 points) IP mask (binary) New IP mask (decimal) Maximum number of usable subnets (including the zero subnet) Number of usable hosts per subnet IP Subnet First IP Host address Last IP Host address PCs will use the first IP address in the subnet. The router will use the last network host address. Interface VLAN 1 on the switch will use the second-to-last IP address in the appropriate subnet. Write down the IP address information for each device: Device IP address Mask PC1 Router1-F0/0 PC2

Task 6: Cleanup NOTE: DO NOT PROCEED WITH CLEANUP UNTIL YOUR TEACHER TRAINER HAS GRADED YOUR SKILLS BASED ASSESSMENT AND HAS INFORMED YOU THAT YOU MAY BEGIN CLEANUP. Unless directed otherwise by the teacher trainer, restore host computer network connectivity, then turn off power to the host computers. Before turning off power to the router and switch, remove the NVRAM configuration file (if saved) from Router1 with the privileged EXEC command erase startup-config. Disconnect and put away all LAN cables that were used in the Assessment. Remove anything that was brought into the lab.
