Causes of Cold War Differences in Ideology: Capitalist Democratic De mocratic VS Communist POINT: POINT: One of the key factors that led to the start of the Cold War War was the difference in ideology, ideology, mainly, mainly, a Capitalist Democratic ideology, ideology, to a Communist ideology. ideology. ELABORATION: A capitalist democratic country is distinguished by free institutions , ELABORATION: representative government , free elections , guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion , and freedom from political oppression , while a communist country works based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority . It relies upon terror and oppression , a controlled press and radio ; fixed elections , and the suppression of personal freedoms. EXPLAINATION: This was a key factor that led to the Cold War EXPLAINATION: War as both ideologies believed that the alternative ideology was a threat to their own way of life , and that the only way for the world to be happy was for  their particular ideology to take over the world , hence, a conflict was inevitable.
