Quick Startt Video O One 1 Welcomee to the set of Quick Start videos for CA 1. ADWorx Plant Professio onal Softwarre! The inforrmation in th hese videos is for versions of CADW Worx newer than the CA ADWorx 201 12 version. In I the neweest releases of CADWorx, the feattures and techniques t f using th for he softwaree have changged and improved significantly. Fo or instance, in the new w versions of CADWorrx, we now w have exttensive rule es availablee within the system, whiich can do th hings like ch hange the sizze or spec of a group of pipingg components! Also, we can no ow automattically place flanges, gasskets, and bolts on valves as they get modeled d into a line!
2 Another big changge is the way 2. w the neew versions work with specifications. We now have the ability to generate au utomatic paart numberss, and the sp pec editor caan now be set to autom mate how lon ng descriptiions appear in the mateerial lists. Th hese kinds off features caan greatly improve con nsistency in how we caan produce our materiial reports. 3 The purp 3. pose of these Quick Starrt videos is tto get you running in th he new verssion of CAD DWorx withiin minutes. As we workk through th his material,, you'll see tthat we're ju ust scratchin ng the surfacce in this neew version. But once you're y able to start run nning the neew CADWorrx, you can begin to exxplore the many m new feeatures in th his system. If you wan nt additional training, we'll w show you y some of the trainin ng resources that are available a to you in the last video in this set. So S let's get sstarted!
4 The first thing we sh 4. hould do is start a new w drawing. Let's go aheaad and do that. t We'll click the New button, and we want w to use a template e. In CADW Worx, one of o the fundamental ru ules that yo ou always d do is to start a new draw wing with a ttemplate.

5 In my exxample, I'm going to be using the m 5. metric temp plate. If you're going to o be doing imperial, yo ou're welco ome to use the imperiial templatee. For our videos that fo ollow, we're going to bee working in n a mixed metric m enviro onment. Wee'll be using the metric template, so s click on iit and then cclick open. 6 Now we''re looking at 6. a our screeen. I'm in a very early release r of th he softwaree, so as you look at thinggs, there mayy be subtle d differences b by the timee you see th hem in your version. Perhaps P six months, or a year, fro om the time e of this reccording som me of these things might change.
7 Overall, tthe screen iss going to haave this same kind of layyout. We havve 7. a ribbon,, and we havve the CADW Worx Plant I and Plant II tabs. We alsso have a CADWorx Ste eel tab, so th his Ribbon laayout is goin ng to look th he same.
8 One of the 8. t main th hings we usee in CADWo orx is the Specview S to ool palette. I’ll go up on n the Ribbo on and click on Specvie ew, and it will w open thee palette. Now N one th hing to notiice that’s different d fro om earlier veersions is if yyou try to seet a size or aa spec right away, like w we could do o in the past, the Specview palette is not yet acctive. Theree's nothing w working on iit yet. 9 In the neewer version 9. ns, we have to do some e settings first before w we can begiin to use Sp pec View. What W we neeed to do iss click on th he Setup bu utton. When n we do that, a dialog b box will open n, and we caan get starteed.

1 This is what 10. w the new w Setup diaalog box loo oks like. As the software evolves and subseq quent releaases come out, this could c changge But it will probably havve the same kind of info ormation that slightly. B we're loo oking at here. These arre some of the choicess and settings that you need to make when staarting up in tthe new verssion. 1 We havee a list of item 11. ms that we will go throu ugh to get o our system set up. The first one haas to do with the current drawing, and whether we wantt to work in n 3D solids or in thread ded or sockket weld. Alsso notice we w have an n enhanced d mode as well. This will give us enhanced graphics in displaying compon nents. For instance, th he w bolt holess in the flangges. system can now show
1 The conffiguration fille is someth 12. hing that mu ust be set. TThis is the Ed dit Config file that we are familiarr from earlieer versions, and it's very similar to o what we u used in the p past. Note that you will need to loaad the configuration th hat you're go oing to be u using. So you will go here and clicck load, an nd click eiither the imperial i orr the metrric configuraation. 1 We're go 13. oing to be ru unning the m metric configguration in this examplle. In your w work, you maay be using pure metricc or pure imp perial – to th he system, iit doesn't m matter. You ccan pick thee one that w works for yo ou. I'm goingg to cancel o out of this, but I've alread dy set mine to metric. 1 Now, thee next thing is to set up the specificcation. This must be don 14. ne from within the Setu up dialog box. We can't set it initiallly in Specvieew d before. When W you click c on Spe ecification/Size, what yo ou like we did actually h have to do n next is selectt a project. 1 In the neewer version 15. ns of CADW Worx, a colle ection of spe ecifications is grouped into a project. This is normal in d doing design n work. Wee’ll use one o of the sample projects to start for th his example..

1 The system ships with 16. w these three t sample projects.. You’ll see a sample inch project, which is a w working imperial projectt. 1 There’s aa sample me 17. etric, which will have metric bore d diameters an nd metric le engths. Therre is a samp ple metric in nch project. This will havve the pipe diameters in inches an nd the lengtths in millim meters. Thatt's the one we're goingg to use for this set of vvideos. The reason we're going to do that is it lets us usee it worldwide. It's a geeneral choicce, orks for both h imperial and metric users. and it wo 1 As far as system feattures, it doeesn't matter.. You can click on the on 18. ne that you're going to o be using in n your workk if you like. I'm going to highlightt the Sample e_Metric_In nch.prj , and d click open. The systeem will then display the specs that aare availablee in this projeect. 1 Projects are collectio 19. ons of specss, and that's how things are organizeed in the new n versions. Once a project is set, then the t specs are availablee. Next, clicck on the 15 50. At that point, you’lll see a list of availablee sizes. This example is in a metric iinch, so sele ect 10”, whicch will be ou ur main size e setting. 2 In the dialog 20. d box, it displays both inches and millim meters. After clicking o on the 10”, cclick Apply & & Close. At tthat point, tthe Spec Vie ew tool pale ette gets pop pulated. 2 Once you 21. u get it to th his point, it's familiar w with what yo ou are used to seeing. YYou can selecct the differeent specs th hat you wantt to work with or the different size es. So all this is similarr to the earlier CADWo orx versions at this pointt.

2 Let’s return back to 22. o the Setup screen by clicking c Plan nt and Setu up. Looking at the settup dialog box, we caan see som me addition nal configuraation file setttings that w we can do. 2 This setu 23. up box also contains so ome piping rules. This is somethin ng new. Wee are going tto take a loo ok at these ru ules in a moment.

Quicck Start V Video Tw wo 1 In this video, 1. v we'rre going to explore th he new pip ping rules in CADWorxx. These rules will add a lot of auttomation intto the systeem for us, and they'll help us placee piping com mponents in nto our mod del both quiccker and eassier than we could do in earlier versions. 2 The first thing we want 2. w to do is verify thaat we starteed out a ne ew drawing using a tem mplate. In thee previous vvideo we cliccked on NEW W, n we clicked metric and Open. The ssystem startted up usingg a and then metric te emplate. 3 Now we''ll click on Se 3. etup. In the previous video, we talkked about th he settings in the currrent drawin ng and som me of the configuratio on settings. Click on the e Specificatio on/Size, clicck on Browse and click o on the samp ple metric in nch project. Then click o on Open. 4 This will load in the specs and w 4. we can click on the 150__M to set th he spec. Seet the Main Size to 10 iinches. If w we look dow wn the list, w we can look at the configuration rules and how the layers aand colors caan be set. W We can also o click on thee piping rule es, which is the area that we're going to focus on soon in tthis video. 5 Click on A 5. Apply & Clo ose. This willl get us into CADWorx. Next, click o on the Spec View tool p palette butto on on the Rib bbon. Specvview will opeen nch sizes in tthe 150 specc. for use and it will be set for 10 in 6 The systeem is now set and read 6. dy for use. LLet’s take a closer look at the new piping rules. 7 The systeem has a nu 7. umber of neew rules thaat we can use, which will w help us b build our mo odels more eeasily and m more accurattely. They ad dd a lot of automation into the systtem for us. For instancee, here's a sizze rule. If itt is set, and we try to co onnect a component to o another on ne, the systeem will prompt us if there’s a sizze mismatch h and give us options o on how this should be haandled. 8 One optiion is to havve it automaatically switcch to the cu 8. urrent size, or we can keep the sm maller size and the syystem will help h us seleect componeents to form the transitiion from onee size to the other. 9 There’s aalso a rule fo 9. or spec chan nges. If you try to place a component with a different specc into your line, you're going to get ssome option ns. ng end typess as you placce Also the system can now check for matchin componeents. This is really helpfu ul because itt can automaatically switcch and matcch end typess for us, depending on th he setting w we select. 1 There’s aa pipe lengtth rule, where we set a minimum aand maximum 10. allowed pipe length.. The system m will make us adhere to that. If w we put in a long piece of pipe thatt exceeds th hat maximum length, th he will ask us ab bout splitting it into sho orter lengthss, and this caan system w help us m maintain ourr fabrication rules. 1 We havee a lot of new 11. w rules and o options in th his new verssion. There'ss a gasket in nsertion, and there’s a switch to in nsert bolts aautomaticallly. Looking ffurther dow wn the list w we see a bran nch table. C CADWorx no ow can utilizze a branch ttable as partt of its specifications. Th his can restriict the choicces that our designers have for speccific branch ffittings, baseed on certaiin size comb binations. 1 Looking further, we see a flangge insertion rule. This is 12. i really quite y place a a valve into a butt welld pipe, thee system no ow nice. If you automattically places flanges, gaskets g and bolts on eaach end of it. There aree a lot of new w options an nd settings aavailable forr us now.

1 Now clicck on the Help 13. H button n. This will display info ormation an nd illustratio ons of these e rules. A number of tho ose rules aree shown herre. If we scrroll down, th here’s a togggle where we w can havee center line es displayed d or not.
1 There’s aalso a checkk size featurre, illustrated, with threee settings. If 14. set to offf, the system will not check c for maatching sizes as we placce componeents. That ssetting woulld allow us tto put in co omponents u up against o other compo onents with aa size mismaatch.
1 If the sizze checking is set to automatic, th 15. hen the new w component you're pllacing will always match h the existin ng one you're connectin ng to. So this t will resset a size if, needed,, to match the existin ng componeent. If you set the size cchecking to manual, thee system gives you the option of placing a sizee that's diffeerent. When n that occurrs, the systeem will prom mpt for whatt kind of con nnections you want to usse to blend the new co omponent in nto the line. You can usee eccentric or concentrric reducers for examplee. You'll get some optio ons there that allow you u to make th his all work ssmoothly.
1 You can see the new 16. w piping rulees give some assistancee when you're trying to change size es like this. There's also o a spec che ecker that w will prompt yyou if you haave a spec m mismatch. Yo ou’ll be ablee to use a ne ew spec, and d you would d have a spec break in that case, or o the systeem can be set to alwayss switch bacck to match h the existin ng spec in th he or end type checking you can set, w which will havve line. There's a rule fo the systeem check the e componen nt’s end con nditions as th hey’re placeed, and alwaays match th hem to the adjacent com mponents.
1 The systeem has auto 17. omatic weld d gap settinggs you can turn on or off. There is minimum and maxim mum pipe le ength checkking availablle. There is an automattic gasket seetting, and aan append fflange settin ng o a line, and tthe append flange settin ng also. So if you place a valve into is enableed, the systtem will au utomatically place som me connectin ng flanges o on each side of the valvee.

1 If you haave the appe 18. end flange rrule set to m manual, it will prompt yo ou for which h kind of flange do you would like tto use. If yo ou try to placce a flanged d gate valve up against a butt weldeed elbow, itt will displayy a list of available a flaanges to select from to connecct those tw wo componeents. So yo ou can see there's t a lott of modelin ng and desiggn assistancce built into the system n now.
1 Scrolling down the list of rules, h 19. here’s one fo or automatically insertin ng nd there's allso now settting for Boltt Hole Orientation. Th his bolts, an will display on mode els when thee enhanced mode settin ng is enableed. So we haave a numb ber of featurres now thaat we didn't have beforre, and what we'll do now, we'll go o back and w we'll set som me of these in our dialo og box. Then n we'll takee a look at how h they work w when we w start placcing compon nents. 2 I'll close tthe help diaalog box, and 20. d let’s changge some of these settinggs. On the size rule, set it for show options. Fo or the spec rule, set it for show options as welll. The size o option settings will give u us prompts to put in reeducers whe en needed. If we havee a size missmatch, it will w prompt u us to transitiion from onee size to the next, and th he system w will provide cchoices when size mismatches occur.
2 The end type rule w 21. will be left to o automatic. Set the pip pe length ru ule to show options. Forr the weld in nsertion rulee, leave it seet to no. If set weld gaps automatically. to yes, it will place w 2 Set the A 22. Automatic gaasket rule to o automatic, and do thee same for th he automattic bolts rule e as well. We want to h have the trim mmed elbow ws and the pipe healingg rule both set to auto omatic. The branch tablle, rule will aalso be set tto automaticc.

1 In this vid 1. deo, we're ggoing to placce some pipe and some componentts. We're ussing a metrric template e, and we have our size set to 10 1 inches. Set S both maain and redu uced sizes to t 10 inchess. Click pip pe, click a point and drrag it out to o the right. Notice how w the syste em displays a compass. 2 Osnap iss turned on, but not orttho or otrack. As we drrag out to th 2. he right we can type a number or jjust click. I'm m going to tyype 5000 an nd press en nter, and yo ou can see the pipe gets g placed and the lin ne continuees. The syste em is routingg automaticcally for us.
3 What it'ss doing here 3. e, if I go straight up, it's going to pu ut a 90 degreee elbow in the center o of the compass display ffor me. But II can also turn around and a it will put p a 45 elbow, if I'm at that anggle. Since th he trimmed elbow settings rule is also turned on, it can ttrim an elbo ow for me iff I want. I co ould key in a number here, and it w would draw w a line that distance at an angle of 2 22.5 degrees.
