www.thecaae.com CAAE CAAE Course Curriculum – Level 1 BASIC ASTROLOGY Course Prerequisite: No prerequisite The goal of the CAAE Level 1 curriculum is to teach students to read and delineate an astrological chart at a basic level. The recommended curriculum for this level represents 45 – 60 hours of in-class instruction. The level 1 curriculum is divided into core, discussion and introductory topics. Discussion topics will not be examined. Examination: The focus of the exam is to test the ability to complete the CAAE level 1 chart form, identify chart and major aspect patterns, as well as discuss the natal chart in terms of the primary triad—the Sun, Moon and Ascendant and quadrant/hemisphere emphasis. The core topics are tested with the completion of the CAAE Level 1 chart form, basic chart delineation by using appropriate keywords, short answer questions as well as true/false and multiple-choice questions. Introductory topics are tested with true/false and multiple-choice questions only. The emphasis remains on keywords, no extensive delineation will be required. The three-hour exam is available at various locations in Canada twice a year. The passing mark is 70%. Planetary Rulerships & Houses. The CAAE adopts modern planetary/sign rulerships in our teaching guidelines and exams (with the exception of the CAAE Horary and Electional Astrology course which is primarily based on the classical/traditional astrology principles). CAAE Level 1 curriculum and exams are based on the modern rulerships. Students and teachers have the option to use the modern or classical rulerships in exams and assignments beyond Level 1. The exam charts are provided with Placidus houses, while students beyond Level 1 are welcome to use either Placidus or Koch houses for exam purposes (i.e. reference charts submitted with completed exams). Note: However, if you have adopted classical/traditional rulerships in your studies, please state this clearly at the beginning of your exam. Aspect Orbs.
