Following Sunday’s game, the Jaguars will play back-to-back road games at Cincinnati (Nov. 2) and Detroit (Nov. 9). “I'd much rather be 5-1 or 6-0 right now but that's not what we've earned and I think there's a lot of football left,” Head Coach Jack Del Rio said. “We've had to get back up off the mat, dust ourselves off and keep rolling in some tough situations. What I'm most proud of with the football team is the resolve we've shown, the commitment to kind of fight the good fight and there's a lot more fight left, and we have a lot of fight in us, so we're looking forward to that." The Jaguars own a 2-3 record in the game following their bye week under head coach Jack Del Rio including a 17-7 win at Kansas City in 2007. The Jaguars and Browns will be meeting for the 11th time with the Jaguars leading the series, 8-2. The Jaguars won the first six games in the series as members of the old AFC Central. The Jaguars earned a 20-14 win on December 4, 2005 at Cleveland in the last meeting between the teams. The Jaguars are coming off a 24-17 road win on October 12 at Denver as David Garrard threw for 276 yards and one touchdown and Maurice JonesDrew rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns. The defense forced three turnovers (2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception) as the Jaguars became only the sixth team outside the AFC West to win in consecutive seasons at Denver. The Jaguars have been forced to reshuffle their starting lineup through the first six weeks due to injuries. The club lost both starting guards, Vince Manuwai (knee) and Maurice Williams (biceps), to season-ending injuries in the on Kickoff Weekend at Tennessee. Center Brad Meester, who has started 119 games, is expected to return to action soon after missing the first six games with a biceps injury suffered in training camp. Defensively, second-year safety Reggie Nelson missed the last three games with a knee injury while cornerback Drayton Florence missed one game with a groin injury. Defensive tackle Rob Meier was inactive at Denver with a knee injury, his first missed game since December 5, 2004 at Pittsburgh.

2008 POSITION ANALYSIS: Here is a position-by-position breakdown of the Jaguars: QUARTERBACKS (2) — David Garrard, a fourth-round pick in 2002, is in his second season as the starter after emerging as one of the NFL’s top signal-callers in 2007. Garrard ranked third in the NFL with a franchise-record 102.2 passer rating as he threw 18 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. He directed an offense under coordinator Dirk Koetter that set the franchise single-season records for points (411, 25.7), touchdowns (50) and touchdown passes (28). Cleo Lemon signed as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason after spending the last two seasons in Miami. Lemon started seven of nine games for the Dolphins last season. RUNNING BACKS (5) — Fred Taylor is in his 11th season with the Jaguars after being selected in the first round of the 1998 draft. Taylor has the third-most rushing yards (10,957) by an active NFL running back and ranks 18th all-time. He is the only player who remains on the Jaguars roster from 1998. Over his 10-plus seasons in the NFL, he has seven years with at least 1,000 yards and has scored 69 touchdowns. He led the team in 2007 with 223 carries for 1,202 yards and was the only NFL player to have 100-plus rushing yards in five consecutive games as he played in his first Pro Bowl. Taylor and third-year pro Maurice Jones-Drew give the Jaguars one of the NFL’s top running back duos. Jones-Drew, who also serves as kickoff returner, ranks fourth in the NFL with 31 touchdowns (27 rushing, 2 receiving, 2 returns) the last two-plus seasons. Jones-Drew is the only player in the NFL with 2,000-plus combined yards in each of the last two seasons. In addition, he is the only player in team history to record two career kickoff returns for touchdowns. Fifth-year pro Greg Jones re-signed with the club in the offseason and has career totals of 256 carries for 869 yards and nine touchdowns. He had a one-yard touchdown reception at Tennessee in the season-opener and set up the game-winning field goal against Houston on 9/28 with a 22-yard reception in overtime. Montell Owens backs up Jones and excels on special teams, earning a roster spot as an undrafted free agent in 2006 from Maine. Owens took a direct snap on fourth down against Houston on 9/28 and raced 41 yards for his first career touchdown on his first career rush. Seventh-round pick Chauncey Washington earned a roster spot after leading the team in rushing in the preseason with 39 carries for 115 yards and also recorded a team-high 12 receptions. Washington led USC in rushing his final two seasons. WIDE RECEIVERS (6) — The Jaguars used their 2005 firstround pick to select Matt Jones and he has recorded 131 career receptions for 1,730 yards (13.2 avg.) with 13 touchdowns in three-plus seasons. Jones leads the team with 30 receptions for 338 yards in the first six games. He has recorded at least four touchdown receptions in three straight seasons. The Jaguars added veteran Jerry Porter in free agency. Porter has played in 107 games with 64 starts and signed with the Jaguars in the offseason after eight seasons with Oakland. His career totals include 285 receptions for 3,945 yards and 30 touchdowns. Former first-round pick Reggie Williams is looking to build off his record-breaking 2007 seasons as he had 10 touchdown receptions, surpassing the previous high of eight set by Jimmy Smith in three different seasons (1998, 2000, 2001). The Jaguars drafted Mike Walker (3rd round) in 2007 and he missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury. Walker ranks third on the team with 12 receptions for 161 yards including his first career 100-yard receiving game against Pittsburgh on 10/5. Nine-year veteran Dennis Northcutt is in his second season in Jacksonville after signing as an unrestricted free agent from Cleveland. Northcutt, who also sees action as a punt returner, has career totals of 328 receptions for 4,136 yards and 15 touchdowns along with a 10.4 punt return average. Troy Williamson was acquired via a trade with Minnesota on February 29. Williamson, the seventh overall pick in the 2005 draft, started 22 games with the Vikings and has 81 career receptions for 1,078 yards and three touchdowns.
