Products and services From coiled tubing to snubbing, frac flowbacks, well cleanup, and production applications, Underbalanced Operations (UBO) and Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD); Expro PowerChokes® products have been developed to provide superior toughness, operability, maintenance ease and cost-effectiveness. Underbalanced drilling and managed pressure drilling require continuous choke use to control the drilling operation. In extreme use and highly-abrasive applications such as this, long life and rugged features of the PowerChokes® improve operations, minimize downtime and reduce costly equipment damages. Our ability to install large orifice trim for high flow rate requirements reduces plugging requirements and allows drilling under a wider range of conditions. Precise automatic choke control is required for MPD as well as well control operations, such as kick control. The PowerChoke ABP automatic back pressure control system is specifically designed to provide this precision in the well operations. Expro PowerChokes® provides both rental and services for choke products/manifolds throughout the globe and can provide custom solutions to drilling and flow related problems encountered during operations.

Our products Control consoles (electric and pneumatic) We provide much more than just the severe service drilling and production chokes to your challenging oilfield operation. Our experience in engineering, designing and manufacturing is used to incorporate the operation of diverter valves, subsurface valves, pneumatic safety valves, blowout preventers, electric motor-driven valves and many other types of remote-operated equipment into the choke console. Our products are technologicallyadvanced and manufactured to exacting standards. Expro PowerChokes® are the choice of renowned well control experts worldwide. Frac stack / zipper frac equipment rental Expro provides frac stacks-temporary well head equipment for use during stimulation and precompletion activities, with a line of 5, 10, 15, and 20K 71/16” hydraulic and manual valves and Zipper frac manifolds - 7” 15K well diverter manifolds, with goat heads for conducting simultaneous frac operations on up to a four well pad. Solids management Post-frac well cleanups, coiled tubing cleanout and completion plug drillout usually involve extremely abrasive flowing conditions and are often unpredictable - flowing back solids and plug parts require rugged and precise operation of pressure control equipment. Our chokes easily control the pre and post frac flowback operations while minimizing equipment damage and project cost. Flowback, well clean-up and well testing Expro PowerChokes® superior well clean-up and frac flowback equipment and services are used in development -wells prior to connection to permanent production facilities. This service includes well cleanup operations, fluid separation, solids management, fluids management and location oversight and management. A typical fracture flowback program for both oil & gas wells onshore and offshore, use a program comprising a multiple-stage fracture with 3-40 zones per well. Expro’s special service equipment is designed to handle high flow rates and pressures, as well as abrasive frac materials recovered during the flowback, clean-up and subsequent well test.

Additional services Training, global sales, commissioning and certification Training Expro PowerChokes® provides a full array of training and competency courses in the use and maintenance of our equipment to our customers, field service personnel, drilling personnel, technicians, engineers and maintenance technicians. This training can be performed in our shop as well as at customer locations. Custom training can be developed for specific projects or needs.
Global sales Drilling choke Our chokes come in various sizes for different applications and pressure requirements. All chokes are designed and seat-tested to achieve drop tight dealing per API 16C requirements. This exceeds ANSI B16.104 Class V (FCI 70-2) leakage requirements, without the use of O-rings or other soft sealing elements in the gate-to-seat seal design. Additional engineering services are provided for specific choke applications. Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) System Valve body is of forged construction, API 75K material and impact-tested. It is virtually maintenance free with high erosion resistance and extended trim life. The control system is ATEX certified with a significantly faster response time and unparalleled reliability. The system provides much needed redundancy, data logging and enhanced safety features. Control consoles We design and manufacture standard hydraulic control panels as well as PLC/HMI based control panels. For Client specific needs, our team of engineers will design and engineer custom panels. The panels meet or exceed industry standards and can be tailored to meet any local codes. Commissioning We offer commissioning and installation services with a team of highly qualified and trained service engineers/technicians. Expro PowerChokes can deploy personnel around the globe on short notice. Re-certification & certification (aftermarket service) As an OEM and licensed ISO & API facility, we offer repair/remanufacture/recertification services. These include but are not limited to chokes, PRV valves and control panels. A Certificate of Conformity is issued for each product recertified. The API rework levels are RSL1, RSL2 and RSL3.

Technology and innovation The newly designed Expro PowerChokes Automatic Back Pressure (ABP) Choke provides superior performance in MPD, automatic flow control, well control and flowback/well clean-up operations. Once the desired backpressure is set at the control panel, the choke automatically maintains the pre-set pressure. As conditions change, or as kill weight mud is pumped into the well bore, the set pressure can be changed as needed. This can be done manually at the control panel, or by a remote signal. The ABP Choke will be available with either hydraulic or electric actuators. A new, more compact, more efficient electric actuator used with the Expro PowerChokes worm gear actuator will provide smooth, variable speed, and accurate positioning of all Expro PowerChokes while utilizing electric power. The new, improved and patented PRV Max system consists of a redesigned HPU and HMI/PLC control panel. This system is ATEX certified with a significantly faster response time and unparalleled reliability. The system provides much needed redundancy, data logging and enhanced safety features. Choke control panels now meet API 16C requirements and are API monogrammed. The PLC/HMI control panel incorporates advanced technology with superior software code. These systems are DNV and ABS approved with ATEX certifications. Reliability and safety is the focal point of these systems.
