 Brick is a solid, permanent and low maintenance

material that provides lasting beauty and appreciating value – brick offers true longevity. With many elements of past brick buildings still standing today, brick is one of the only truly tried and tested materials known to man

 Brick is not as popular as other materials when it

comes to design because architects and designers strive to source modern and contemporary materials to enhance their design critique, and brick has perhaps been seen as “traditional and uninspiring”, allowing competing cladding materials to emerge into the market place.

 This proposal focuses on developing design techniques

with the production of bricks to invigorate the use of brick as a contemporary material for architectural production.

 The main objective is to increase functional and

aesthetic complexity of the overall pattern of brick work; allow more flexibility to brick constructions.
