The patient is asked to look over his/her shoulder. It is important to observe the posterior joints and musculature carefully and to attempt to identify any abnormalities of movement. During rotation, the right inferior facet of C4 will slide down in relation to the right superior facet of C5. The opposite will occur at the left joints, with the inferior facet of C4 sliding upwards in relation to the superior articular facet of C5.
