Carl’s theories were ahead of his times, and his conviction led him to develop a process for dehydrating and concentrating nutrient-rich plant materials into powders that could be encapsulated or formed into tablets. In 1934, he created his new business, which he renamed ‘Nutrilite’ in 1939.

NUTRILITE is the only global vitamin and mineral brand to grow, harvest and process plants on their own certified organic farms*. (Certified by official certification agencies in accordance with the laws of the country where the farms are located.) No other supplement company in the world owns more farmland, utilising organic farming practices to research, develop and produce its own exclusive plant concentrates. Strict organic farming practices are used at the Nutrilite farms where plants are grown as ingredients for Nutrilite products. These practices promote healthier plants and soils by avoiding synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers. It results in plants that resist disease and insects. Nutrilite crops are grown in accordance with nature. That means replenishing the soil instead of depleting its nutrients and using nature rather than chemicals to control weeds, insects and other harmful predators. Nutrilite’s sustainable farming techniques for the past seven decades have included: soil solarisation, integrated pest management system, composting and recycling efforts putting natural materials back into the soil. All products left over from the processing of plants are recycled into the composting operation to be returned to the soil in a few short months as valuable nutrients. Nutrilite have one of the largest scientific staffs in the industry. Nearly 100 scientists conduct tests on NUTRILITE products, ranging from clinical trials to quality assurance.

Located in central Brazil, just three degrees south of the equator, there are 4,100 acres (1,659 hectares) of prime farmland where Nutrilite cultivates acerola cherries – which are one of the world’s richest sources of Vitamin C. Other crops include mango, pineapple, coconut, and tropical herbs. Located in central Mexico, there are 1,353 acres (547 hectares) of farmland where Nutrilite harvests watercress and alfalfa. It has 25 test plots of vegetables and herbs that are studied for their nutritional value. Located in Lakeview in southern California, US, there are 630 acres (255 hectares) of farmland where Nutrilite grows alfalfa, parsley, carrots, and broccoli. Located in Trout Lake in southern Washington, US, there are 699 acres (282 hectares) of farmland where Nutrilite can grow up to 70 botanicals and 3 million pounds of herbs every year, including echinacea and chamomile.
