Description

TUNG INTRO Traditional Chinese medicine has been chosen by the World Health Organization for worldwide propagation to meet the heath care needs of the twenty-first century. If that doesn’t excite you, you better check your pulse!!!!

TUNG INTRO In 2007, I graduated from acupuncture school, and needed a break. I started a non-profit, and went volunteering for the next 3 years. I volunteered in India, Vietnam, Honduras, Guatemala, and in America. •I failed miserably the first two years in acupuncture practice. It was spectacular!  •

Plastic surgeon, detox center, MD, allergist clinic, nurse practitioner, bio identical, spa, wellness center, therapy combo, solo practice, house calls, group, volunteer, working hourly, ER hospital, herbal house call van deal, old folks home, 4 overseas volunteer trips.

In my clinic, I see 100 people a week on my own, each patient individually, no group treatments, no assembly line acupuncture. I see 25-30 people a day, and I work Mon-Thursday, 3 tx rooms. My wife runs the front office, I do all the herbs, treating, insurance, cleaning, laundry, make herbs, ordering of supplies and materials. We have only been open since 2010 March. We were at 76 people the first week. I DIDN’T KNOW ANYBODY IN MY AREA! It was a small town, 12,000 people mostly of fisherman/farmers/blue collar workers, no acupuncture ever in the town YOU CAN DO ACUPUCTURE ANYWHERE! Quit thinking in terms of “do people like acupuncture here or there?” Think in terms of “are there sick people here? Is so? I provide medicine and I can be of service! It just so “happens” that you do acupuncture and herbs. Why am I here talking? Because I'm a novice. Because I'm new. Because I don’t know that much. If I can do this? YOU ALL CAN!!! I’M NOT SPECIAL!

TUNG INTRO • I have been taught Tung Acupuncture by Wei Chi Young and I have been taught the Balance Method acupuncture by Dr. Richard Tan. To them I owe everything I have learned. • I had the chance to “practice” all these points overseas, doing volunteer work, treating 100 patients a day. Volunteering is important. It allows you to treat for free thus it allows you to treat without fear. It allows you to experiment without worrying about booking the next appt. You can test, try, retry, rethink, and all the time you’re helping others. People come for months, you can see the evolution of your treatments…what is working? What is not working? Why not? Why is it? • Treat as much as you can, you will get better with experience

TUNG INTRO • “The biggest reason people don’t succeed is because they don’t expose themselves to the existing information” - Jim Rhome •

I'm just Brad. I have no magic needle, no golden touch, I have no privileged information or powerful potions. If I can do it, anybody can! Step by step, needle by needle, and patient by patient. We learn. All this information is available to everybody. There are no secrets! You just need to PRACTICE and CRITICALLY think

TUNG BASICS • Top complaints 95% of all cases (over last 3 years 20,000 cases)

• • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Upper neck/shoulder Low back PAIN anywhere Sciatica Joint pain, knee, elbow, fingers toes, shoulder Headache, trigeminal neuralgia, tmj jaw pain Sleep (too much too little) Stress/depression/anxiety/fatigue/libido/no zest for life The big 3, heart issues, Type 2 diabetes, Cholesterol Female issues, menstrual, hot flashes etc Allergies/breathing Fertility (male and female) General wellness, general issues, neuropathy, numbness, weirdness Last resort -Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, tinnitus, MS, auto immune etc

• Yes I see many others, like hypoxemic respiratory failure or scarlet fever, but do we see this all the time?

TUNG BASICS • Ill cover Tung theory as we talk. • Its impossible to cover it all in 1 hour, let along 4 days a normal length Tung seminar • And ill explain the theory, I have many ways to discuss theory this is only one way. Master Tung theory is deep and rich. Lets keep it simple shall we?  • And like gravity, it works…regardless if you “get it or you don’t”. These points are the same, they work! THERES NO MAGIC! They work better if you know why, but still my wife who knows nothing of acupuncture could be super successful if I told her what points to do and she had no idea why. • But one MAIN CONCEPT? Don’t try to be “Dr. Jesus”. See Dao Ma Concept

TUNG BASICS • “The Dao Ma Needling Technique of Master Tung Ching-Chang was one of the clinical methods he most frequently employed. This technique can succinctly be stated as follows: three points are needled simultaneously to profoundly 'obtain qi' (De Qi) and rapidly effect a cure. Dr. Tung did not greatly concern himself with 'supplementing' (Bu) or 'draining' (Xie) needle techniques, but rather with powerfully 'obtaining qi' (De Qi) to influence the 'Reaction Areas' of the points needled. In this style of acupuncture, the more you obtain the qi, the faster your results will be.” • “Disease is non-intrinsic object of our body. If you get it, just remove it”. Master Tung • Over 60% of Master Tung points are in “Dao Mas” • Dr. Maher, Advanced Master Tung

TUNG BASICS • Tao tells us of the Great Triad (Heaven-Mankind-Earth) which can be loosely translated to mean the path from obscurity into manifestation. • • • • • • •

3 Depths of needling of every point (dr. wei chi young) 3 needles in a Dao Ma 3 is a very important number 1=1 1+1=3 1+1+1=4 The needles are SYNERGISTIC!

TUNG POINTS • Gu Ci Yi Er San • • • • • • • •

Bone Spur Points Gu Ci Er Bone Spur Two Same as Gu Ci Yi Gu Ci San Bone Spur Three Same as Gu Ci Yi Gu Ci Yi Bone Spur One Bone spurs, pain of the vertebrae, traumatic injury of the vertebrae LI12 is first point, then 2 cun proximal, 2 cun more proximal CLINICAL APPLICATION I would suggest clinically these points work better than Ling gu for low back pain. They are just amazing and they are less painful for western patients. 3 points in a row treat the upper , middle, lower part of the spine. Where at Ling gu is one point and only treat low back pain. I would suggest I use these points 70% of time and ling gu 30% of time. They are just that great.

TUNG POINTS • 77.01-2-3-4 Reaction areas: Brain and spine • 77.01 Zheng Jin/Upright Tendon/In the center of the tendon of calcaneus, 3.5 cun superior to the heel. • 77.02 Zheng Zong/ Upright Ancestor Two cun superior to ZhengJin (77.01). • 77.03/Zheng Shi/Upright Master 2 cun above 77.02 • 77.04/ Bo Qiu Two and a half cun superior to ZhenShi (77.03) • Classical indications-cholera morbus (sudden turmoil disorder), aching pain of the back, and nose bleeding.

TUNG POINTS • 77.01-2-3 and at time 77.04 CLINICAL APPLICATION These are YOUR GOTO POINTS for neck pain, on the bone, cervical issues C1-7/T1. If you add in 77.04 then we are treating to around T4 zone. On the spine, DU, and BL channel. And KD channel if you understand the Jing Jin channels. I frequently will use 77.-01-2-3-4 with ren 24 for neck pain. These points can be and are used for low back pain, the image and channel and for brain problem because of the reaction. I love this points for all the conditions. They are powerful, effective and NOT painful. You can needle this points on people face up or face down. The key to these points IS THAT YOU MUST TAP THE BONE to make these points effective. Needle thru the tendon to the bone. That is key. CONTRARY TO OPINIONS? You can NEEDLE THIS POINT WITH PEOPLE LAYING ON THEIR BACKS! COME ON! IMPROVISE, OVERCOME, ADAPT!

Interesting to note that these points are on the BL channel. How can they treat GB21 pain? See, Master Tung was aware of the Jing jin and and tendino muscular relationships. These say that the traps are NOT the GB, but in actuality the BL. Here master tung point for Trap pain are on the BL channel. The other clincal application is for diagram, chest breathing issues. The reaction are is the chest and these points do a lot for breathing, chest constriction tightness. When we think pain in the upper back? 77.26 should one of the first point groups that comes to our mind.
