Description
THERMAL PROCESSING - KOLSTERISING ®
Bodycote Kolsterising ® North America presents a proven anti-galling process for corrosion resistant, non magnetic AISI 316 components for the automobile producing industry. Kolsterising® does not apply a coating on the surface but results in a pure diffusion zone from the surface inwards, with excellent toughness and no risk of delamination or peeling. Further, Kolsterising® increases the surface hardness of austenitic stainless steels to a level of 1,000 - 1,200 HV 0.05 comparable with 70 - 74 HRc.
No Distortion Carbon Diffusion Prevention of Galling Low Temperature Process Improved Wear Resistance Retention of Non-Magnetic Properties Full Retention of Corrosion Resistance
2. Fuel injectors Non-magnetic internals are kolsterised to eliminate galling and to reduce impact influences.
3. Fuel cell spool valves Kolsterising® reduces friction and eliminates corrosive attack of valve internals.
4. Brake systems Non-magnetic parts are treated to reduce friction and to reduce influence of impact forces.
5. Automatic transmissions Non-magnetic internals in controls are kolsterised to reduce friction and wear.
6. Engine cooling Kolsterised sealing devices last longer due to reduced friction and increased anti-wear properties.
7. Engine block cleaning Dramatic extended life of HP-cleaning nozzles due to reduction of cavitation erosion influences.
8. Automobile painting Gear pumps for metering & transport of water diluted paints benefit from reduced abrasive wear with unchanged or improved corrosion resistance.
