Hi, I appeared for the BHEL ET Recruitment Test-2010-11 Test-2010-11 at Haridwar on 31 st October 2010. My stream is Electrical Engineering. I would like to share my experience regarding this test. The Aptitude portion (English, General math & Reasoning; 120 questions) was easy. But, the Technical portion (Electrical (approx 80) & General Engg (approx 40); 120 questions) was difficult. The questions of Electrical Engg. were previous years’ GATE questions .This unusual and unexpected question pattern surprised surprised the candidates as the GATE questions are lengthy and take time in solving (as 3 hrs are there for solving approx 65 questions in GATE). These types of technical questions are not supposed to b e asked in this type of test where you have to solve 240 questions i n 150 minutes. In ET Test-2009-10 the Technical questions were up to the standard and not too lengthy. Questions were based on concept and were of “DEKHO“DEKHO- MARO”© type (©My Copyright reserved ). No tiring calculations were required. But, the Non technical portion was difficult as compared to the Non technical questions of ET-2010 ET-2010 test. Many of my friends appeared in ET Test- 2009.After taking experience from that test they started their preparation for ET2010.They focussed their preparation on Non Technical area more than technical area.But, the unexpected pattern pattern of questions put them in surprised state. Go through the previous 10 year GATE questions which are conceptual in nature. You need not practice lengthy and calculative type questions because you can’t solve them in this test as the time is quite meager. Better leave such questions and move forward. For General Engg: Basic Physics & Mechanical Engg. For Non Technical Portion Golden Rule: Attempt Non Tech portion first. Questions would be on basic maths and reasoning. Try to attempt as many here. There are only three ways to bring proficiency in non technical area. Practice Practice Practice Books recommended are:1. M Tyra 2. Made Easy: Aptitude and Reasoning Book 3. Baron’s GRE (Comparison type i.e inferential questions) 20 questions will be from this book. For Reasoning you may refer any book like Banking recruitment Guide, MAT Guide etc.
For English: Be thorough with basic grammar and have good reading skills.
