Each of the Major period is further sub divided into nine sub periods. Each sub lord gives good or bad results depending on its relation with the Major lord and also the ascendant lord . If its relation with the major lord or the ascendant lord and the sub lord is adverse but the concerned planet itself  is a benefic then the results are neutral. If the relation between the Major lord and sub lord is Good and sub lord happens to be a benefic then the results are excellent. If both major and sub lords are adverse then the result will be very bad. In a bad Dasa and antara if the transit of Jupiter and Saturn are also adverse the result can be disastrous culminating in the death of native also.

Vimsottari Dasa Vimsottari Dasa is the most important Dasa of Vedic astrology. This Dasa is extensively described in Parasara Hora Shastra and is called the supreme Dasa of Vedic astrology (together with Kalachakra). It is a strange fact that some supreme classical texts (Saravali, Brihat Jataka) do not  mention this Dasa at all. Vimsottari is a Nakshatra Dasa that is based upon the position of the Moon in her Lunar  mansion. Each Nakshatra has a planet (or Node) as its lord. There are in total 9 lords. Each of the lords has a fixed period of influence. The total period is of 120 years. Calculation of Dasa balance is described in the chapter above. The basic rules for this Dasa are given in the next table. DASA LORD

Antardasas are calculated according to the proportional values of the lords. Antardasas  begin with the lord of the major Dasa. Each lord has a propotional time of influence. Example: The Moon's Dasa is of 10 years. Each Antardasa contributes the same  proportional value as indicated by the portion of the Mahadasas.

So Moon/Moon will be of 10 * 10/120 years = 10 months. Moon/Mars will be of 10 * 7/120 years = 0 years 7 months, etc.

Interpretation of Vimsottari Dasa Each Dasa has several influences 1. The dignity of the Dasa/Antardasa lords in Rasi chart are of high importance. Their house positions must be regarded with care. 2. Navamsa position is important, too. Special aspects of life should be predicted from other Varga charts (like children from D7, siblings from D3). 3. The Mahadasa lord becomes Lagna for the time of the Dasa. Antardasas must be regarded relative to this Lagna. 4. Friendship and enmity of the Dasa and Antardasa lords are important. So inimical relation between Dasa and Antardasa lord can be inauspicious even if their house  positions and strengths are good (and vice versa). 5. Most events happen in appropiate Antardasas. Events indicated by Mahadasas are most likely to happen in appropiate Antardasas. 6. The natural character of the Dasa/Antardasa lords is not so important in Vimsottari Dasa (let's say 15%). 7. Combination of Dasas is important. So events indicated by Vimsottari will surely happen if Yogini and Kalachakra Dasas agree. 8. House and Nakshatra positions of running planets should be regarded, too. So Gochara and Sarvatobhadra can give valuable hints if (and when) events will come true.

Nakshatras-Poorvabhadrapada Poorvabhadrapada is ruled by Aja Ekapad, the one-footed serpent. This nakshatra spans from 20°-0' in Kumbha to 3°-20' in Meena. The symbol is a double-faced man.Poorvabhadrapada raises up our spiritual aspiration in life and takes us out of the domain of selfish behavior. This is a transformational nakshatra where they will sacrifice themselves for a higher cause, to make a difference in the world.

A person born in this Nakshatra has full control over his sense organs, is intelligent, an expert in all art forms, and destroys his enemies. Poorvabhadrapada born are risk takers and their charming personality often gets them out of tight spots. A person born in the first three quarters of this nakshatra has a slender, tall stature. Poorvabhadrapada born have set of principles in their life, which they like to follow under any circumstances. Poorvabhadrapada born are a very adaptable kind and can change themself  as the situation warrants. They spend money in the most proper way, avoiding any misuse of the same. Poorvabhadrapada born are engaged in the revenue collection department or in any capacity where cash transactions take place. Females born in this nakshatra have a well-balanced body and they will not extend their helping hand unless they are convinced fully that such kindness, sympathy and generosity are actually required. They are a little more practical minded when it comes to charity. Males born in this nakshatra can easily enjoy the respects and confidence of  others even if they are financially weak. Those born under this nakshatra could suffer from complaints like paralytic attacks, diabetes, gastric and abdominal problems. They are spiritual, unattached, helpful, unknown, patient, boasting, quarrelsome and famous.

Uttarashadha is ruled by the Universal Gods (Vishwe Deva). It is also know n as the "Universal Star".This nakshatra spans from 26°-40' in Dhanus to 10°-00' in Makara. Uttarashadha is introspective and penetrative and is concerned with intensiveness, the results of the latter being more permanent than the former. Uttaraashadha is the second  part of the Nakshatra Sagittarius.

Uttarashadha brings us to the summit of our power, sup port and recognition, not so much through our personal efforts but with the appropriate alliances and support of all the Gods. Uttarashadha born can be driven like a workaholic, extremely persistent when excited, but if they loose interest they become lazy, introspective, and not finish what they started. A strongly placed moon in the natal chart of some Uttarashadha born can give them a fair  complexion. The people born under this nakshatra do not trust others easily and it is only after spending considerable times with them that others can get an entry into the inner  circle of their friends.

The males born in this nakshatra are good mediators in any dispute. A good Mercury  placed in their natal chart can make them a good consultant or advisor in any field. They are usually preachers, respected, noble, boasting, of wavering mind and often short tempered.

Kumbha (Aquarius) Rasi Very great saints and thinkers have been born in this house. Among the 12 signs of the zodiac this sign is attached to occult subjects. The people of this house will have unexpected travels. They have to face problems on the domestic front. Their friends influence them more than their relatives. They are generally idealists. If major planets favour this sign they have the potential to become ideal servants of humanity who contribute great knowledge and wisdom for the progress of mankind. The materialistic prosperity of these people are linked to their spiritual nature itself. If they lack spirituality, they are bound to become self-centered and unconcerned of the progress of humanity. Physically these people may suffer from the ailments connected with legs, teeth, eyes and ears. They may also suffer from lack of blood circulation. Good Dasas are of Ravi, Venus, Saturn and Rahu. Bad Dasas are that of Jupiter, Moon and Mars.

Rasis (Zodiac Houses) In Indian Astrology when a zodiac is divided into twelve equal parts, each such part has an extension of 30 degrees of arc. Such a division is called a sign or Rasi. There are 12 houses of Rasi's. No

Grahas (Planets) & their significance In Hindu Astrology there are nine planets or Grahas. These include Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter,Sun, Moon,Saturn Rahu and Ketu, which are astronomical points formed where the moons orbit intersects the apparent path of the Sun around the earth. Each planet is considered to be having masculine, feminine or neutral characteristics as well . Grahas and their equivalents in Western Astrology Indian Grahas

Rahu and Ketu The Moons apparent path intersects the ecliptic obliquely at two points called the nodes. The point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north is called the ascending node or Rahu, where it crosses the ecliptic from north to south is called descending node or Ketu. These two points are 180 degrees apart and their movement is constantly retrograde, meaning, against the normal direction of movement of planets. Rahu and Ketu are given special status and considered as planets in Indian astrology. But they are not included in Western Astrology. Rahu and Ketu take approximately eighteen years and ten days to complete one round of the zodiac . Grahas' Relationships Each planet or Graha considers another planet a s friend, enemy or equal. Some relationships are not mutual, for example, while one planet considers another as a friend, the second planet in turn may not see the first one as a friend. Mercury and Moon are examples. KALASARPA YOGA

When all planets are between Rahu and Ketu this yoga is formed. Even though favorable planets are placed between them or in own house this has force. This is a bad yoga. Generally first half of life will be in struggles.
