Baymax Crochet Doll

2 ***Read through the entire pattern before beginning.*** 

Notes Read through the entire pattern before starting. You will be working in rounds in a continuous spiral for the body, arms, and hat. Always use a stitch marker to keep track of your spot. Stuff the body firmly to get the correct shape. Crochet tight stitches to prevent holes in your work. Do invisible color change when a color change is indicated.

Materials Yarn (the tutorial uses sport weight) White Gray A small amount of black for eyes A small amount of pink for cheeks Crochet hook for your yarn weight (the tutorial uses 2mm) Doll stuffing Safety eyes Yarn needle Scissors Stitch marker

Terms and definitions BLO: back loop only; crochet in the back loops of the following stitches. BLO: back ch: chain stitch dec: decrease; dec:  decrease; crochet two stitches together. fasten off: cut yarn tail and close the stitch. hdc: half double crochet; yarn over, insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. inc: increase; inc:  increase; crochet two stitches into the same space. magic ring: an ring: an adjustable ring usually used to start crochet works in the round. R...: round R...:  round or row that is currently being worked on. sc: single crochet; insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook. slipstitch: insert slipstitch:  insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop, pull through loop on hook. (...): total (...):  total number of stitches {...} x…: crochet what is in between the brackets that many number of times.

4 Let’s get started!  The finished doll, if using the yarn and hook size as stated in this tutorial, should be around 4.5 in. /  11.43 cm.  

Legs (make 2)

Starting with the gray yarn... R 1: 6 1: 6 sc inside of a magic ring (6) R 3: 2: {inc} 2: {inc} (12) R {1 sc,x6 {1 inc} x6 (18) x6  R 4: BLO,18 sc (18)  White yarn…. R 5: BLO, 18 sc (18) R 6: 18 sc x2 rounds Fasten off the first leg invisibly and make a second one just like it. Do not  cut  cut the yarn from the second leg. You will continue working with it  to create the body as follows:

Body Continue working with the white yarn... R 7: Ch 7: Ch 2, attach to the first leg and crochet 18 sc, crochet 2 sc across ch, crochet 18 sc around the second leg, crochet 2 sc across the other side of the ch. (40) ch. (40) *You will end at the back of the body.*  R 8: 1 8: 1 sc, *place stitch marker on this sc you  just made. This is the beginning of your  rounds* , 37 sc, {inc} x 2 (42) R 9: 38 sc, {1 sc, inc} x2, (44) R 10 & 11: 44 11: 44 sc x2 rounds (44)

Body continued... Head R 27: {Inc} x16 (32) R 28: {3 sc, inc} x8 (40) R 29: 2 29: 2 sc, inc, {4 sc, inc} x7, 2 sc (48) R 30: {5 30: {5 sc, inc} x8 (56) R 31-40: 56 31-40: 56 sc x10 rounds Place eyes between rounds 35 and 36. Embroider cheeks and line between eyes. 7 Arms (make 2) R 1: 5 1: 5 sc inside of a magic ring (5) R 2: {Inc} 2: {Inc} x5 (10) R 3: {1 sc, inc} x5 (15) x5 (15) R 4-8 (5 rounds): 15 sc (15) R 9: {3 9: {3 sc, dec} x3 (12) R 10 & 11: 12 11: 12 sc (12) R 12: {2 sc, dec} x3 (9) x3 (9) R 13 & 14: 9 sc (9) If you want to stuff the arm, stuff only the bottom portion of the arm lightly now. R 15: {1 sc, dec} x3 (6) R 16 & 17: 6 17: 6 sc (6)   Press the ends of the arm together and crochet 3 sc across to close it. Leave a long tail for  sewing onto the sides of the body. Make a second arm the same way.

Circle details (make 2) R 1: 6 1: 6 sc inside of a magic ring (6) R 2: {Inc} x6 (12) R 3: {1 3: {1 sc, inc} x6 (18) R 4: 18 4: 18 slipstitch Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing onto the sides of the body.

8 Assembly To assemble your baymax doll, sew the circle details onto the outsides of the legs and sew the two arms onto the sides of the body. Congratulations! You have finished your vision doll!
