Baseband SW Multi‐standard SW introduction – Modularized into RAT and CAT parts – Support for new HW (DUS Gen 2)
OAM redesign – New information model (ECIM) – New North Bound Interface (Netconf)
RBS unique Control System – Linux based, enabling more 3PP SW
Baseband 5212 is supported from software L16A and W16A Baseband 5216 is supported from software L15B and W16A.
G1 platform CPP (Connectivity Packet Platform): a platform that provides an
an Execution Environment (with various processor types: MP, BP, SP, …) an Operating System (OSE or Linux) an O&M interface (MO‐based over CORBA) Equipment handling Transport Network handing (ATM, IP) some Signaling protocols (SS7, SAAL, SCTP, ...).
CPP is used in MGW, RNC, RXI, and WCDMA/LTE RBS Generation 1
G2 platform RCS (RBS Control System): a platform that provides an Execution Environment (with various processor types: MP, DP) an Operating System (Linux) an O&M interface based on ECIM/COM
It is used in WCDMA/LTE/GSM RBS Generation 2 (Baseband 5212/5216) and in TCU03 (Baseband T‐503) Note: Pico RBS (6401/6402) also uses COM for the O&M but with a different platform (not RCS).

Device Processor HW (XMU, RU)
Execution Environment: built on Linux, Its main task is to control the hardware and start up the middleware layer. Middleware: contains Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and middleware functionality. The O&M part uses common components to provide a management interface which has the same look and feel as other Ericsson products. COM (Common Operation and Maintenance): A component in CBA that provides an MO‐based O&M interface for Network Elements, using NETCONF and CLI. ECIM (Ericsson Common Information Model): The Managed Object Model used in COM. Has some similarities with CPP MOM (eg, supports the same operations get/set/create/delete/action) but most MO classes are different.
