五鼠遁日起时诀 五虎遁年起月诀 合在一掌更轻易 There are two tabulated sets of 60 pillars use for the purpose of deriving the month and the hour Heavenly stem in a particular year & day respectively. I choose to combine both tables into a single palm which is more handy. Before we begin, you must remember the natural sequence of the Heavenly stems as follows ; 甲，乙，丙，丁，戊，己，庚，辛，壬，癸 And the orders of the 12 zodiac across the fingers sections as shown in the picture. From the picture attached ,locate A, B & C . Each representing the A, B, C steps to follow through in sequences. Step A.. Your must remember the Lui He Combination pairs of 10 heavenly stems as follows; once you have memorized the Lui He Combination you can always skip Step A 甲己 combination 乙庚 combination 丙辛 combination 丁壬 combination 戊癸 combination Step B.. Recalling the natural sequence of the Heavenly Stems...just use the first 5 Heavenly Stems of the natural sequence 甲，乙，丙，丁，戊... Corresponding that respectively as wood,fire,earth,metal,water.. remember that 甲 goes with green box....hence 己 pairing with it both start with 甲 乙 goes with red box...... .hence 庚 pairing with it both start with 丙 丙 goes with yellow box...& 辛 start with 戊 丁 goes with white box.....& 壬 start with 庚 戊 goes with blue box.......& 癸 start with 壬 Step C...Applications Irregardless of 五鼠遁日起时诀 or 五虎遁年起月诀 you can simply forget them from now as we are just interested to find the heavenly Stem of the month of a given Year, or to find the heavenly stem the hour of a given day..Same single application. Eg. on a 甲午 day what will be the hourly Heavenly stem in Snake hour 巳时？ Using Step A only if you still haven't be able to memorized the Lui He combination, otherwise you can skip it. Using Step B ...甲 goes with 甲 green box so start 子 with 甲 Indicated Step C on the finger base 子, Start the 子 finger section as 甲子 go clockwise with the 12 zodiac in sequence in tandem with natural sequence of the Heavenly stems as follows 甲，乙， 丙，丁，戊，己，庚，辛，壬，癸，甲，乙

Snake being Nos six will pair with Heavenly Stem 己 earth. Hence on a 甲午 day at Snake hour the heavenly stem at snake hour will be 己. Eg. on a 庚申 year what will be the Month Heavenly stem in Rooster Month 西月？ Skip Step A only if you have memorized the Lui He combination...haha Using Step B ...庚 goes with red box so start 子 with 丙 Indicated Step C on the finger base 子, Start the 子 finger section as 丙子 go clockwise with the 12 zodiac in sequence in tandem with natural sequence of the Heavenly stems as follows 丙，丁， 戊，己，庚，辛，壬，癸，甲，乙，丙，丁 Rooster being Nos 10 will pair with Heavenly Stem 乙 wood.
