some USEFUL FACTS first 1. Every piece starts with an adjustable ring („magic ring“ or „magic loop“). You don‘t have to close each round with a slst, except

the patterns calls for it. You crochet continuously in a spiral most of the time.

2. Take care to crochet very tight stitches! If you crochet rather loosely, use a smaller hook size (e.g. 2,0 mm / US 0). 3. Stuff the amigurumi very firmly as you go. You better overfill your amigurumi with stuffing material than stuff too little! So if

you‘ve got the feeling that it‘s enough stuffing, stuff a little more. A broken chopstick helps spreading and stuffing firmly.

4. If your amigurumi will be best friend to a child under age of 3, you rather use safety eyes or embroider the eyes using the dark

olive yarn from Henry or some black embroidery floss.

(64)

TREAT YOURSELF TO A LITTLE BREAK ... Now is the perfect time for a few preparations to make. To make the hat‘s brim stable, a suitable solid cardboard circle is required. For a water resist version that‘s also washable, you cut out a piece of plastic instead - e.g. from a plastic lid of food packaging. Arrange the brim approximately circular and place it on the cardboard. Draw it‘s outline, add a few more millimeters to the edge and cut out the circle (It has to be bigger then the outline you‘ve drawn!).

... NOW BACK TO CROCHET!

ch 1, then press both sides of the arm‘s opened end together so that they lie flat on top of each other, aligning 3 stitches side by side, ch 1 and then sc tog 2 opposed st at a time (sc 3). Break the yarn with a rest long enough to sew the arm onto the body. Pull the yarn tail through the last stitch completely before you thread a needle to sew the arm onto the body right above round 17 (Peter + Erwin) or above rnd 18 (Henry).

small details ERWIN → Embroider little V‘s onto Erwins acorn cap. Use light green yarn or embroidery floss held double.

PETER Take yarn B or C (held double) and embroider some short and longer lines onto Peter‘s mushroom hat. A smart idea is to use Morse code to embroider a secret message. You can find the Morse code alphabet on the internet.

CHEEKIES Color the cheeks using a light pink fabric- or acrylic marker. Or cut some cheeks out of light pink fabric and sew them in place instead. Embroidering the cheeks also works really fine.
