Automatic Batch Centrifuge









Centrifuge for the separation of solid from liquid are of two general type. 1)Sedimentation centrifuge which require a difference in density between the two or three phases present. 2)Filtering centrifuge for solid liquid separation in which the liquid phase is retained by the filter medium through which the liquid is passed. The use of centrifuge cover a wide range of Application from separation of fine CaCO3 particle of less than 10 micron meter coarce coal 0.013 meter (½ inch)

MAIN CONCEPTS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS CENTRIFUGE ? A centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by an electric motor (some older models were spun by hand), that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a forc  perpendicular to the axis. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centripetal acceleration causes denser substances to separate out along the radial direction (the bottom of the tube). By the same token lighter objects will tend to move to the top (of the tube; in the rotating picture, move to the centre).

VARIOUS OPERATIONS SUCH AS FEEDING , WASHING , RINSING AND UNLOADING ARE SUCCESSIVELY AT  APPROPRIATE INTERVAL OF TIME •

CYCLE TIMERS AND SOLENOID – VALVES CONTROL THE VARIOU S PARTS OF THE OPERATIONS BY SENSOR

UNLOADING VALVE : A special type of pressure regulator installed as part of an accumulator system. Its functions are to direct fluid into the accumulator system, to maintain pressure within set pressure limits, and to unload completely and bypass all luid flowing in the line from the pump back to the reservoir

UNLOADING KNIFE : THE BASKET IS UNLOADED WHILE TURNING AT MAXIMUM SPEED BY A HEAVY KNIFE RISES PERIODICALLY AND CUT THE SOLID S OUT WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE THROUGH A DISCHARGE CHUTE .

ITS CONSISTS OF A ROTATING BASKET SUSPENDED ON A VERTICAL SHAFT AND DRIVEN BY A MOTOR . THE SIDE OF BASKET ARE PERFORATED AND  ALSO COVERED WITH A SCREEN ON THE INSIDE THE CHARGE IS PUT INTO YHE BASKET(20 to 42 inches) WHILE STATIONARY THE POWER IS TURN  APPLIED , AND THE BASKET ACCELERATED TO  MAX. SPEED (800 to 1800 rpm) THE BRONZE VALVE  AT THE BOTTOM IS RAISED AND THE CHARGE OF SOLID IS CUT BY A HEAVY KNIFE AND DISCHARGE THROUGH A DISCHARGE CHUTE AND CLARIFYING LIQUID STREAM TO A CENTRAL DISCHARGE-CHANNEL TOWARD BY A CENTRIPETAL PUMP .

 











 ADVANTAGES : 1 Any part of cycles can be lenghtened or shortened as desied.  2 Automatc centrifuge have high productive capacity . 3 Because of short cycle the small batch of solid can be effectively washing in any batch machine this increase the quality of filtrate  DISADVANTAGES 1 Not use for the feed contain many particle finer then 150 mesh  2 Cannot handle slow_draining solids , which would uneconomically long cycles or solid do not discharge cleanly from the chute
