SLM License File Installation Introduction Attached is your new Aspen Technology product license file. This license file is based on the SLM License Management technology. The following are instructions for the license file installation and SLM system configuration. Installation I. Determine/confirm the licensing system type of your new license file: A. For Aspen Technology products, version 2004 or earlier, your Aspen Technology sales contact will be able to tell you whether you have chosen a Standalone or Network license system. B. If you have installed aspenONE 2006 or later products on your computer or you have upgraded to 2006 or later SLM tools, you will have access to an application named SLMLicenseProfiler.exe. By default, this application can be found in the “:\Program Files\Common Files\Hyprotech\Shared\” directory. a) Launch the SLMlicenseProfiler application by either double-clicking the file or by using the Start menu (Start | Programs | AspenTech | Common Utilities | SLM License Profiler). b) Select Local License File as your License Server and browse to the location of your new file. c) Click Load Information. d) After the license information appears, click View Licenses. e) In the License Type column, confirm that this new license file is either Standalone or Network. f) If you have not installed aspenONE 2006 or later products, you may be able to determine the licensing system type by viewing the contents of the license file in Notepad.exe or other text viewer. (This will not work on a fully encrypted license file.) II. If you have a Standalone license file: A. Install the new standalone license file: a) If this new license file replaces an existing license file, we suggest that you remove the current license file from the system by renaming it. This will ensure that the new license file is the only one on your computer. i. The license file(s) are usually found in the “:\Program Files\Common Files\Hyprotech\Shared” directory. The current file will be named lservrc_XXX_YYYYY.lic. We suggest that you rename it to lservrc_XXX_YYYYY.lic.old.
b) If you already have an Aspen Technology SLM-enabled application installed on your computer, simply double-click on the new license file to automatically install it. c) If you do not have an Aspen Technology SLM-enabled application installed on your computer, save the new license file to a local hard disk. You will be prompted for the location of the file during the product installation process. d) You can also choose to manually install the license file: i. Copy the file to “:\Program Files\Common Files\Hyprotech\Shared\”, then rename its extension as follows: if the file sent to you is named lservrc_XXX_YYYYY.slf or lservrc_XXX_YYYYY.aealic, rename it to lservrc_XXX_YYYYY.lic. Note: Only the file extension is changed. B. Configure the standalone SLM system: a) When you have installed an Aspen Technology SLM enabled product, you will have access to an application named SLMConfigWizard.exe. By default this application is located in the “:\Program Files\Common Files\Hyprotech\Shared\” directory. b) Launch the SLMConfigWizard.exe application either by double-clicking the file or by using the Start Menu (Start | Programs | AspenTech | Common Utilities | SLM Configuration Wizard). c) At the Will you be connecting to an SLM server over the network prompt, select No. Then click Next. d) At the Would you like to configure the advanced settings prompt, select Yes. Then click Next. e) At the Locking page, browse to the location of the new standalone license file and click Auto Configure to automatically configure SLM to use this license file. f) At the Project Tracking, Windows Terminal Server / Citrix, and Licensing Type pages, click Next to preserve previously configured options. g) Continue with the wizard until it indicates that it has written the new configuration to the registry of your computer. h) The SLM system should now be fully configured to use your new license file.
