W= 550 - width D = 350 - depth W/D =550/350 =1.57 Therefore from the table (L/D) ratio is 7.25 by interpolation . Therefore equivalent L =350 * 7.25 =2,537.5mm In meters it will be 2537.5/ 1000 =2.538m. area then is .55+.55 +.35 +.35 * 2.538 1.8 * 2.538 =4.568 square meters. Area of a rectangular reducer A rectangular reducer has four sides, each side being a trapezium. Therefore area of reducer is the addition of the 4 no trapezium. Area of a trapezium is given as 1/2 (sum of the bases)height For 550*350 to 400* 200 1/2 (500+400)ht + 1/2 (350+200)ht +1/2(500 + 400)ht +1/2(350 +200)ht. Since this reducer has been fabricated, height can be taken physically and area can be obtained (height being constant to all sides) Theoretically, height can be obtained by using a slope of between 1 in 4 to 1 in 7 recommended for a reducer fabrication.
