Specifications - are written or printed description of work to be done prescribing qualities of materials and modes of construction. Agreement - is the contract covering the performance of the work described in the contract documents including all supplemental agreements thereto all gen. & special provisions pertaining to the work or materials therefore. Arbitration – the binding resolution of disputes by one or more neutral persons as a substitute for judicial proceeding. Advertisement or invitation to bid – the notice published by the owner & the invitations issued to prospective bidders giving information as to the nature of the proposed project condition for the issuance of contract documents & date of bidding. Bid bulletin - is additional information on contract documents issued to bidders before date of bidding. Instructions to bidders – the list of instructions stipulating the manner on how bids are to be prepared & conditions for the award of contract. Special provisions - are instructions w/c may be issued to supplement drawings & gen. conditions of the contract. Penalty clause – a contract provision setting forth the damages a party must pay in the event of a breach of the contract. Proposal – the offer of a bidder to perform the work described by the contract documents when made out and submitted on the prescribed proposal form, properly signed and guaranteed. Quotation – a price given by the contractor, sub-con, material supplier, or vendor. to furnish materials, labor or both. Surety – is the person or firm or corporation who executes the contractors bond. Statute of limitation – is the specific period of time w/ in w/c legal action must be brought for alleged damaged or injury. Notice to proceed - the contract time in computed based from receipt date. Bill of material a.k.a. quantity survey - a detailed analysis and listing of all items of materials & equipment necessary to construct a project. PROBABLE CONST. COST – the estimate of the project cost by the architect. ACTUAL CONST.COST – the overall cost of the project after completion.

PROGRAMMING, PLANNING, SCHAEDULING PERT – program evaluation & review technique PLANNING – is the function of coordinating in a logical order all the activities, persons, machines, & materials necessary to complete the project. SCHEDULING – is the placing of the plan on a calendar timetable and showing the allocation of the equipment & manpower that will put the plain into effect. METHODS OF PLANNING 1. 2.

BAR CHART METHOD CRITICAL PATH METHOD

BAR CHART – shows the time necessary for each function but does not show how they are related to one another. (Traditional bar charts show both functions simultaneously w/ the result that the answer is too often incomplete). CRITICAL PATH METHOD (CPM) – basically is technique that separates planning & scheduling. it also clarifies the inter-relationship between time & cost.

TRADE INDICATORS – for activity grouping such as sub-contractors.

FREE FLOAT TOTAL FLOAT – is the amount of float that is shared by all the activities on a non-critical path.

SCHEDULE ANALYSIS: EARLY START – is the earliest point in time that an activity can start. EARLY FINISH – is merely the duration of the activity after its early start. LATE FINISH – is merely the duration of the activity must be finished if the project is not to be delayed. It is the duration after the late start. LATE START – is the deadline by w/c time the activity must start if the project is to get done in time.

PARKING AREA – allocated space composed of marked-off portions for single motor vehicles on a short-time storage basis. RAMP – a sloped surface connecting two or more planes at different levels. THRESHOLD – a strip fastened to the floor beneath a door, usually required to cover the joint where two types of floor materials meet.

PD 1185 – FIRE CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES Abatement – any act that would remove or neutralize a fire hazard. Blasting agent – any material or mixture consisting of a fuel and oxidizer used to set of explosives. Combustible liquid – any liquid having a flash point at or above 37.8 c (100 f). Forging – a process where a piece of metal is heated prior to changing its shape or dimensions. Fulminate – a kind of stable explosive compound w/c explodes by percussion. Hypergolic fuel – a rocket or liquid propellant w/c consist of combinations of fuels & oxidizers w/c ignite spontaneously on contract w/ each other. Jumper – a piece of metal or an electric conductor used to bypass a safety device in an electrical system. Oxidizing material – a mat’l that readily yields oxygen in quantities sufficient to stimulate or support combustion. Organic peroxide – a strong oxidizing organic compound w/c releases oxygen readily. Prophetic – descriptive of any substance that ignites spontaneously when exposed to air. Smelting – melting or fusing of metallic ores or compounds so as to separate impurities from pure metals. Fire resistance rating – the time duration that mat’l or const can withstand the effect of hundred-fire test. Flame spread rating - the time in w/c flame will spread over the surface of a burning material.
