AQUILA AQUIL A CORDE COR DE AR MONICHE AND ITS I TS FOUNDER, MIM M IMMO MO PERUFFO Aquila Corde was born in the 1990s out o the researches o the string manuacturer (and amateur lute maker and player) Mimmo Peruffo. From his researches in museums across Europe, he was able to ormulate and convincingly establish the theory that ‘loaded’ or impregnated gut strings were used or bass strings on lutes in the 17th century. Tis solution gave a richness o sound to bass strings at a time when wound metal strings (an innovation o the later 17 th century) had not yet been invented.
FOUR MILK WHITE STRINGS In 1997 Mimmo Peruffo patented and introduced to the market strings o NYLGU®, a synthetic material that offers a good substitute or gut on plucked instruments, greatly improving their perormance when compared to nylon strings used until then. Tis material, designed initially or lutes, was soon used on classical guitars and later on ukuleles. Since 2002, Aquila Corde Armoniche has offered in its catalogue more than 60 different products or ukulele, not only establishing itsel in a very short time as a leader in this market, but strongly contributing to today’s ukulele revival.

By adjusting the specific weight o the material or each string without the use o metal coating, a homogeneous eeling across the our ukulele strings, the low G string included, is achieved, without the need or strings o different kinds or the annoying increase in diameter in the bass strings, which creates problems o timbre and intonation. • SUPER NYLGU NY LGU®: ®: as the name implies, implies, an upgrade to the historic historic NYLGU®, NYLGU ®, which improves its perormance considerably.
