Lay the flash paper sheets on the table, overlapping slightly, so that they are, in total, the same length as the candle. Place the candle along the left edge of the paper as in Fig. 1. Roll the paper tightly around it, as shown in Fig. 2.

SETUP Measure the candle, from the tip of the wick to the base.

When the rolling is finished, glue down the edge of the paper and twist round the top to look like a wick (Fig. 3). Trim down the twist, so as to expose the genuine wick, beneath (also shown in Fig. 3). The candle and paper shell, thus prepared, are placed in the candlestick. Turn the bad side i.e., the one with the join, away from t h e audience.
