Description

An Argumentative Essay on Suicide Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. It is often carried out as a result of despair, mental disorder such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, alcoholism, or drug abuse. Stress factors such as financial difficulties or troubles with interpersonal relationships often play a role in committing suicide. Everyone often times faces problems and difficulties for life is not a bed of roses. There are times when you are up, sometimes at the bottom. During our darkest moment, we tend to think that the situation is hopeless, that we are bound to experience endless suffering and that there is no solution to our problems. With this, one may resort to kill or hurt themselves, thinking that this is the only viable solution to the hardships that he may be facing. Suicide is not the best solution to a problem; it should not even be included as one of the options. Human life is sacred, a gift given by God, our Creator. It is only Him who has the right to take it away- not people, not even ourselves. We are entrusted with this body to take good care and nurture, to develop and to enhance it to the fullest; but God has never given us the authority to hurt or kill this sacred sanctuary. Human life is important, each second that we have here on Earth is vital as each living individual is tasked with an important role in the society. Why waste this precious gift of life because of problems? Suicide cannot solve it. It only makes the situation worse. People who commit suicide do not give themselves the chance to change their ways, to correct their mistakes. As the saying goes, “While there is life, there is hope.” There is no hope for people who has committed suicide for this act connotes hell. Therefore, if one thinks that he can escape problems

by putting an end to his life, he is definitely wrong- for problems here on Earth are bound to end, but if we take away our life, our sufferings on the afterlife will be endless and eternal. Furthermore, the consequences of suicide are not just that one person is dead, that a precious life has ended. It is also a tragedy of epic proportions for the people left behind. It’s this willful, hurting of others that make suicide one of the most selfish acts a person can do. If every person who committed suicide could have just stopped and thought about the enormous pain their actions will cause, perhaps there would be far fewer self-inflicted deaths. We may not love our lives, but our loved ones certainly cherish it. All depressed persons are probably suicidal, but these tendencies can be eliminated if the people around that person are sensitive enough to talk to him, letting him feel that he is not alone, that he has a companion he can lean on. Stress and suicidal tendencies can be alleviated through emotional and psychological support which means that the best solution to a problem is communication and support system. Turn to those who will help you before you enter into the tragic goodbye. Just remember, God loves you and there are others who will love you if you reach out. So that one day, you will be able to say, “I stared at self-inflicted death, and courageously turned away. And I’m so glad I did.” Whatever we are facing, suicide should never be in the picture.
