Rotating carbon mast, Square topped mainsail, Asymmetric tilted dagger-board foils, High aspect ratio rudder, Carbon canting wheel, U shaped hull, Aft center of Gravity, Huge bowsprit to fly large Code0 and massive asymmetric kite... Alibi’s DNA is definitively orientated toward very high performance : • If you place the emphasis on lightness with a slim interior and the use of carbon, Kevlar, D4, Dynnema and others high tech fibers, you can turn your Alibi into a pure performance toy without compromising her ability to cross any ocean in comfort. • Your Alibi sail at 8kt with 5 kt of wind... this unrivalled speed will allow you to sail most of the time. Electric propulsion, solar cells or rain water collection would make your Alibi even greener. • Moreover, the Alibi Diesel genset and large battery bank already in place for the Electric propulsion allows to install all the comfort equipment you could dream of without major weight penalty: Air Conditioned, water-maker, washing machine, dishwasher, induction hob... truly turn your Alibi in a blue water cruiser. Anyway, Alibi’s goal is to design a boat perfectly matching your dreams. Thus, this document shall only be seen as the starting point of a really unique design ; your Alibi 54.

Weight saving: In order to offer outstanding sailing performances AND all the comforts appliances AND sufficient payload for round the world cruises, the composite shell of your Alibi must be incredibly light. Here is the reason why we are using building techniques and materials usually restricted to racing crafts or aerospace vessels.

Truly high-end conception and construction

Finite element analysis of the structure stress

The best materials :

• Epoxy resin is 5 times more expensive but 30% more stiff and 2 times • Fiber cloth Woven & unidirectional fiberglass fabrics always 260 kg)

• V shaped Aluminum hull of 4m50 • Gasoline outboard (maximum 50 Hp) • Lifted in a recess under the bridgedeck the tender deflect the vawes thanks to it V shape and offers easy acces and perfectly located weight.

Tender Ultra light Alu (28 + 19 + 19 = 66 kg)

• V shaped Aluminum hull of 2m90 • Electric engine (6 Hp) • Lifted forward of the bridgedeck (under the jib track) the tender stand well above waterline and offers easy acces and perfectly located weight.

Tender 100% Inflatable (17 + 19 + 19 = 55 kg) • • • •

100% Inflatable V shaped hull of 2m90 Electric engine (6 Hp) Temporary storage on the net Long term storage deflated in the starboard stern. Outboard mounted on a dedicated support. • 24V electric pump sized to quickly inflate the tender

Highlight and comments: • Tender with a powerful outboard (up to 50 Hp) has been designed for those who plan to use the boat as an exploration cat but also meet the requirement of those interested in wake boarding or water skiing. • The ultra light 2m90 tenders fitted with an electric drive of 6 Hp are solving the question of gasoline. The tender’s battery can be charged by the “mother” boat so that your tender is electric / diesel-electric.

Propulsion and electricity:

Highlight and comments: • Alibi has been one of the very early fan of the DieselElectric revolution. Carefully studies and analysis lead us to the conclusion that this propulsion cannot compete with the classic diesel one in term of cost but the benefits truly balance this extra cost.

Diesel - electric propulsion:

• 37 kW genset designed for DE use • The genset is located under the mast foot for perfect weight distribution. Maintenance access from the saloon. • 140 gallon (475 liters) diesel tanks • Fuel / water separator and filters • Siphon breaks fitted to raw water lines to engines • Exhaust fan and sea water filter in engine room • Soundproofed engine compartment • 70 amp/hr engine start batteries • Engine panels with warning lights, alarm and • engine hour meter • Throttle control at the steering pod • Twin electric drives of 20 kW each • Electric engine access from the companionway floor • Twin sail drives canted inward (draft reduced to 3’) • Twin foldable 3 blades propellers for minimal drag

• Now that cars are all going electric and lots of boats are thinking about following this trend, Alibi is rewarded for this early move.

Electricity: • • • • • • • • • •

10 kW Deep cycle domestic batteries Electrical and batteries charge monitoring system Fire extinguisher in engine electric’s bay DC distribution panel with circuit breakers Volt meters and amp meters to 24 Vdc systems Charger / synchronised inverters AC-DC AC distribution panel with circuit breakers 15 AC sockets in the saloon and the hulls All room equipped with LED lights LED navigation and anchor lights

Electric options: • • • • • •

Courtesy fans in the saloon and the bedrooms 2 Underwater lights in both sterns Tiny LED lights under the steps Strip-LED for indirect lighting of the ceilings Charger / inverter to connect boat AC with shore power Dedicated charger / inverter to connect the air-conditioned network with the shore power • 900 W solar pannels

Highlight and comments: • Black water holding tanks are an issue when times come to clean the bilges. Regulations are making the black water tanks over-engineered with too many pumps and hose leading to the sea the deck and the tank. The final result looks really complex. • The Lectra-scan is a small tank installed on the exhaust line and the using the salt of the sea (NaCh) to produce CHlorine and kill batteries. This equipment is not legal in restricted area (great lakes for instance).

Water, plumbing, tanks... • 140 gallon (475 liters) clear water tanks on port side • 20 gallon (75 liters) water heaters (engine coolant loop & electric) • Hot and cold pressure water system • Electrical automatic sump pump for showers • Sanimarin SFA; quiet flush electric toilets • Hot and cold shower and basin and sink mixers • Hot and cold outside shower in port stern • All plumbing hoses are double clamped below waterline • Bilge draining system including : hand pumps, electrical pumps and float switches • 10 gallon (40 liters) black water tank on starboard

Fluids options: • • • • • •

Dessalator water maker 220V (95l/h) lectra scan black water treatment on port 10 gallon (40 liters) black water tank on port Pumps to move water and diesel fore and aft like a ballast Pressurized sea water (galley’s sink and deck cleanning) Peripherals collection of rain water around the bimini

Interior style is both simple and luxurious. The details must be refined with you but the goal is to highligh the volume and the simplicity of the boat with large white surface and associate details of clear carbon and AAA wood in order to reflect the performance DNA of the boat. Working surfaces would be Corian and/or Bolon. Kitchen Owner’s cabin Baby’s’ cabin
