Irene, I had no problem opening the links and forms. Check with your IT person (if you have one). If that does not work, send me a PM with your email address and I can send you the forms you need. Stijloor.

Welcome to the Cove. Go to this post and right-click on the PSW attachment. Choose "Save Target..." and save the file to your desktop. Try to open it from there.

Thanks all for your responses, I had a bit of a play last night and worked out the the lower tol is first and then the upper tol (as the response said this morning). I have modified it to suit how we read stuff over here in NZ but as mentioned before the templates are great, so many thanks to all inmvolved. I have attached my modified version created in Excel 2007 but saved as 2003 so it should work.

Re: Here are the Various AIAG PPAP Manual 4th Edition Forms Response to chuachomvn, I cannot find the thread in the forum but the question was:

Sir,

what are APQP and PPQP? What do they used for and why do we need it. I am just a QE beginer! APQP is Advanced Product Quality Planning and is a toll used by companies to prodcue a quality plan to assist and support the development of a product to ensure customer satisfaction. PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is a part of APQP and is used to ensure that the supplier has provision in place to consistently meet the requirements during a production run. There is a ton of info contained in this forum and also on the web, you can also purchase the required APQP and PPAP information form AIAG. Thanks Murray

Re: Here are the Various AIAG PPAP Manual 4th Edition Forms Howard, Thank you very much. (I wrote my first post today!) Do you know if there's a standard customer waiver form? My engineering group wants to revise the drawing and avoid PPAP if possible. So, we plan to prepare the "Product / Process Change Notification" as published in the PPAP 4th Edition Manual which provides a space for the "Expected PPAP Completion/Submission Date" but I don't see anywhere on the form where we can request an authorized customer signature instead, to waive the PPAP submission. Also, would it be appropriate for the sales rep to handle this or does engineering need to interface directly with the customer? This is our first time requesting a waiver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!

You must first notify the customer of the proposed/planned change. Re-submission may be required unless waived by the customer. Sorry. PPAP requirements are tough. Stijloor.

There is no standard waiver form unless your customer has one. It would be best to speak with a customer representative. Which department handles the issue is a matter of personal preference. If you have persuasive sales people, that might be the way to go, but make sure they understand the technicalities before setting them loose.

What kind of drawing revision are they wanting to make? If it affects the part form, fit, or function, then you should do a PPAP anyway even if you don't submit the data to the customer. Quote:

Who normally works with the customer? There is no standard for who interfaces with the customer for PPAPs. Your organization can decide. Ideally you don't want too many people contacting them though...

Re: Here are the Various AIAG PPAP Manual 4th Edition Forms Jim and Howste, Thank you both very much for your quick replies! :thanx: From what I understand, the change will not affect form, fit or function, but I will recommend that we PPAP anyway, and see if our sales rep can request the waiver. Thanks again. :bigwave:

Re: Here are the Various AIAG PPAP Manual 4th Edition Forms If the change doesn't affect form, fit, or function, then probably all you'd need to submit is a warrant (PSW) with an explanation of the reason for the change and why it doesn't justify any changes to PPAP information already submitted. The customer's approval of the warrant would be the waiver of the other PPAP requirements.

Re: Here are the Various AIAG PPAP Manual 4th Edition Forms If your customer is Ford, you need to fill out a SREA(Supplier request for Engineering Assistance) form and contact your Ford STA for further direction. If not Ford, find out your customer requirements and contact the appropriate contact. Sales may be able to handle it. But whichever way you go make sure you get a customer signature and date or it could come back to haunt you later. Many years ago I was out in the plant with a GM engineer and he was reviewing how our parts fit the car. He wanted to make a minor change on our part and told me what to do, and we made the change. Later a GM QC guy came in and said we didn't comply with the print because of the change. I told him the GM engineer told us to make the change, and he asked to see the marked and signed print showing the change. Well, duh, we didn't have anything in writing from GM authorizing any changes

I work in Medical (but am an ex Automotive person from England supplying Ford, Rover, Toyota, Nissan etc ) and have modified the form to suit our needs. Medical has no PPAP process as such in ISO13485 but some of the large American medical companies are using the term now, so I guess it is better to be proactive and implement first before they tell you what you must do. I am extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end. - Margaret Thatcher

Good idea. :agree1: Medical is pretty far behind in quality systems, but PPAP is one of the best things you can do to verify new part process and collect the appropriate data.

I am sorry but your question got overlooked some how. There is no actual requirement but if they are radically different they might cause eyebrows to raise. I suggest for your own sake stick to the format and save the questions:bonk:

No, these forms can be used by all automotive supplier companies and customers. The "big" three: Ford, Chrysler and GM) originally designed these forms. Stijloor.
