Creation of New file in NX

Start NX from TC and choose New. From the menu that opens, you’ll choose the most suitable base for the current need of design, i.e. Template. All of the templates are regular NX-parts, but they have built in settings and basic geometry for different needs. Make sure that chosen units are Millimeters Choose the first template, Model, from the list. Using the Assign button you can give the next available number or revision to the item (3). Template parts have basic attributes, which you can modify by selecting Attributes... (4). It is recommended that you rename the part so that it is easy to identify. A new name is given to the part using the Part Name attribute.

Roles setting in NX

In NX it is possible select different user roles according to how much NX experience the user has. After the installation, the default role is set to Essentials. This means that the menus will be narrow and simplified.

Customer Defaults, continuous auto dimensioning off •

Let’s make sure that the automatic dimensioning of sketches is turned off so that the skething would be more similar with older CAD-software.

•

Select File Utilities Customer Defaults Sketch Inferred Constraints and Dimensions Dimensions-tab and make sure that none of the checkboxes are selected. After changes have been made to Customer Defaults, the program has to be restarted in order for the changes to start functioning. We will try the Auto Dimensioning later on.

Advance Options Detailing or Drafting Cont+ F – Fit to in Screen Error Teamcenter: Login

Open the Teamcenter portal. Use User ID, password and database as provided by the course leader. From the Quick Links – menu select Home (1), which opens your desktop. The contents of your desktop shows up in the window on the right. Now you can see the ”Projektit” folder (2), where you can create your own projects in subfolders. NX is started from within Teamcenter (3). NX tries to open the target that you have selected. If you want to deselect a chosen part, choose the selected part again with CTRL-key pressed.

Reference sets

You can choose what reference set is loaded first when assembly is opened

•By default Lightweight model is loaded first (top of the list)

•Sometimes it is better if parts are loaded with Model reference set

•To change this move Model to top of the list by using arrows

 When item revision is released it cannot be modified in NX  To make a new revision use Save as  File Save as...  Save Part File as –window opens  Change Action to Create New Revision  New revision is assigned automatically (Revisions go from 0 1 2)  Click OK  New revision will appear to Team center
